really works
My contractor recommended this fan and it really works! When I step out of the shower my mirror is 100% fog free. The light is bright and doesn't seem to be as yellow as many flourescents. The noise level is low. Loud enough that you know when it's turned on, so don't leave it running, but quiet enough not to be a bother.

It Works!
It is very quiet. However, there are a few drawbacks. The unit has springs that help mount it to the ceiling. Therefore, it does not sit perfectly flush. Also, it was not clear that you need a 2nd electrical leg to use the night lite feature. The unit is meant to be used with 6" duct work. However, we bought a 6" to 4" duct adaptor very inexpensively, and it seem to be just fine. The plastic frame around the light, although very lightweight, is pretty flimsy for an expensive unit. At then end of the day though, it works perfectly fine.

Be Aware Fan Uses 6" Diameter Duct Not 4"
I have always been satisfied with Panasonic products so after reading these reviews I decided to purchase this exhaust fan for my basement bathroom. But the space under my basement ceiling tiles is limited. The description for this unit does not clearly list the size of it's exhaust duct which is 6" (inches) in diameter, not the standard dryer exhaust duct size of 4" (inches) in diameter. The old fan which is being replaced uses a standard 4" (inch) diameter exhaust duct. My contractor told me that in order to install this unit he would need to cut a larger hole through to the outside of the house because the existing hole is 4" (inches) in diameter and the new unit requires a 6" (inch) hole. This is nearly impossible because of the limited space between the floor and the basement ceiling tiles, and the fact that there is a huge beam between the outside wall and the siding that also needs to be re sized. This would require too much labor as apposed to leaving the existing hole at 4" (inches) in diameter and installing a new unit that requires a 4" (inch) exhaust duct. So I'm returning this unit in exchange for the 110-CFM Panasonic FV-11VQL5 which uses a 4" (inch) diameter exhaust duct. Before you purchase this unit be sure your contractor says there is sufficient space for the 6" (inch) exhaust duct that it requires. Also the color is listed as red? No, it is white. I suggest you go directly to the Panasonic website for more detailed info before purchasing.

Quiet, Bright, with a night light feature!
Love Love Love --- Love for the quiet, love for the night light feature, love for the clean install and look! This is not your tract home fan! Super Quiet, Nice install and easy trim install(the light part comes off and down with the trim ring if you need to do a lamp replacement. The lamp compartment is in a sealed box built into the trim, so it stays clean bright under the lens.I installed a 3 gang switch for this, Leviton Timer relay for the fan, night light switch, bright light switch. The only downside to this unit is the "bright light" is a compact fluorescent. Good for energy, but not a huge fan (get it fan) of fluorescents in general and with a compact fluorescent socket it would be challenging to change that out if you wanted to mod it to LED or incandescent. It is a nice diffuse light it turns on instantly (plus or minus the square root of two).Did I mention this is quiet. I purchased the 150 cfm model which makes a very faint fan noise. The 100 cfm model you can't even tell the fan is on. I probably didn't need the extra airflow for my small bathroom, but if your bathroom is steamy or stinky, more airflow is better in my book.

Disappointed!!
I was so excited with the new Panosonic exhaust that I purchased another one..(see my last review). However, after about 6 weeks, this one began to make a sound like the motor is pushing it to work!! This just happening the other day...and it's no longer the silent whisper fan it used to be. I think I will have to return both of them ASAP!! The hassle and cost of asking the handy man to take and replace them, may not be worth the cost savings of purchasing through AMAZON.com Sorry to say this because I really was wanting to shop on line!!!

Make sure to use a 6" duct and vent hood
Absolutely tremendous fan and light, particularly when paired with a exhaust timer (Leviton below)! Moves so much air you can feel it being sucked around the closed door in our bathroom. Our bathroom is ~ 8' x 8' and I haven't found a way to steam up the mirror yet. That said, the electrician who originally put it in converted the exhaust to a 4" duct to get out through the soffit. Unfortunately, this caused the fan to perform very poorly. It still moved air, but did not prevent moisture from building up on our walls or steam covering the mirror. Whatever you do, use only 6" duct work and 6" vent hoods, and you will be fine (I'd recommend going through the gable)My set up runs ~ 20 feet from the fan to the gable and I haven't had any difficulty with the length. Here's what I used (some equivalents form local Hardware store): Leviton 80421-W 2-Toggle 1-Decora/GFCI Device Combination Wallplate Leviton LTB60-1LZ Decora 1800W Incandescent/20A Resistive-Inductive 1HP Preset 10-20-30-60 Minute Countdown Timer Switch,White/Ivory/Light Almond Speedi-Products SM-28A90 14 14-Inch 28-Gauge 90-Degree Round Adjustable Elbow Carlon B355R Switch/Outlet Box, Old Work, 3 Gang, 5.72-Inch Length by 2.79-Inch Width by 3.69-Inch Depth, Blue, 1-Pack Quietflex 6" R8.0 Metalized Insulated Flex Duct - 25' Box [...]
