Brand New XD4 Arai did the only thing possible to this groundbreaking, critically acclaimed street and dirt crossover helmet. We made it even better. Intermediate-round oval shape: The new XD4 has Arai's intermediate oval (IO) interior shape. New exhaust ports and shell shape: These new top-diffuser-vent ports nearly double the XD4's airflow, while its new shell shape provides better aerodynamic stability at higher street speeds in concert with its high-flow peak and new side cowl vents. New larger side cowl vents: The new larger, sculpted vents improve ventilation efficiency as well as helmet stability on your head at speed. New chin vent: The new vent has more intake ports for improved airflow. And like its predecessor, the vent's chin bar is rounded with less protrusion making it less likely to catch and dig in during a spill, than most other designs. Its oval form is actually based on the egg's, long known for its extremely strong and efficient shape. FCS cheek pad system: Arai's amazing new patent-pending FCS (Facial Contour Support) cheek pad design delivers comfort, support and fit like nothing you've ever felt, and it features our exclusive 5 mm peel-away custom fit layer. New brow vent face shield: Arai has added our trademark brow vents to the new XD4 face shield, providing airflow to the temple area of the head. Fully removable/replaceable/washable interior: Includes Arai's patented Dry-Cool technology to keep you drier and cooler (hence the name) for greater long-haul comfort. Emergency cheek pad release system: From Arai's decades long commitment to building helmets that do more for riders comes this major innovation, the very first emergency release cheek pad design created specifically for motorcycle helmets. Developed to allow easier access to an injured rider, the XD4's cheek pads slide out easily via the integrated pull-tabs built into the underside of the cheek pad, making helmet removal much easier for trained medical personnel.

QUALITY
When it comes to personal safety, I always ask a simple question "what am i worth?"That's it, I want the best, and that is exactly what this helmet is, the best helmet for adventure riders.Which is what we'll do on my new Harley Pan America Special.Things I like about this helmet :1. Visor - cannot express how much I love it, makes having sunglasses unnecessary. It's the sun hitting the face shield glare that gets to me, and with the visor I just tip my visor and instantly the face shield is shaded and I can see perfectly. Love the visor, every helmet should have one from a pure functional perspective.2. Air flow - this helmet has plenty of air inputs and great air movement throughout. On the freeway there is plenty of flow to stay dry, and eliminate condensation or fogging.3. Visor - the shape is great, it allows for easy opening/closing with a gloved hand, and has plenty of room on the inside for wearing glasses. It also seems to stay very free of fogging, even when it's foggy outside in the bay area.4. Quality - build quality is great, I forget to mention it because I buy strictly on personal safety, but in the end it IS the build quality that makes it a safe helmet, so it's really first on the list.5. Personalizing - the option to custom fit the interior pads based on head dimensions is great. I didn't have to make any adjustment, I have a high forehead and it fit perfectly right out of the sack.Nothing not to like about it for me, it was hard to find one, I randomly caught my perfect helmet on Amazon, everything includes price, shipping, and service was perfect.

Fit and comfort
I'm an Arai helmet guy, i use signetQ and love it. I bought the XD4 because I started to ride dual sport bikes. I ordered the same size as my Signet which fits me perfect. Now to XD4. It is extremely uncomfortable, especially when putting on and off, it has 2 vents that open via red tabs. Those tabs are horrible!!! I have scratches on my brows from it, I screamed when I took the helmet off, that is how hard they dug into my skin. i have removed the tabs and that made it a little better, the helmet is still very uncomfortable to ride with.My advice is try this helmet on before you buy it, I do not recommend it at all.

Fantastic Helmet
Fantastic helmet. This is my first Arai and I’m not disappointed. The eyeport offers fantastic visibility. The venting is superb. Just did a 300 mile ride in Centeal California summer heat (105-110 degrees) and this moved air through great. Fit is superb and I am right at the bottom end of the large measurement. Mounted a Sena 10S for communication and it was an easy install. Very minimal lifting of the helmet with the peak on. Don’t even notice it until I turned head all the way over my shoulder. It’s noisier than my Shoei GT Air, but as an adventure helmet, really quiet. Highly recommend this helmet.

One of the highest quality helmets on the market
Everyone's head shape is different but this helmet fits well. I struggled with purchasing something so expensive but it really is worth it. I'll never go back to budget helmets. What sold me on Arai was the much higher quality shell and that they have a different shell size for each different helmet size. On budget helmets, if one gets an XL you're possibly getting an XXL shell with just more padding to size it down to an XL. So in that case one would have a big bobble head helmet which is an annoyance. In budget helmets I wear an XL and in Arai I wear an L which is more sleek and comfortable and snugger and actually safer. The face shield does seem to fog easily, but I purchased a non-fogging tinted shield to address that shortcoming. I'm happy with this purchase and recommend to take the plunge and get a top class helmet.
