Perfect for all who enjoy gadgets and the great outdoors. Designed to tap into the power of the sun, and provide luxuries like hot beverages and snacks in remote places where conventional kettles, gas and electricity are not readily available or not safe (can also be used as a redundancy to your current set up) . How many times have you needed a bowl of hot water to do the washing up after camping? Craved a hot brew on a cold days fishing? Wanted to cook your pot noodle at a music festival? Or (hopefully not) been in a survival situation where snow's needed to be melted in order to get drinking water! Although the last example is somewhat extreme, it highlights the Solar Kettle's brilliant versatility in solving these problems. The solar kettle, due to the lightweight materials used, is very portable and will strap to the side of your pack via molle straps or other attachement systems. In use, its reflectors are folded out to gather three times more energy than with only a plain tube. During transit, the reflectors are folded in and protect the tube, and it looks and feels just like a large thermos flask. The solar kettle gives you hot/boiling water on tap wherever there is sunshine. Whether camping in a tent, motor-home, caravanning or on manoeuvres with the army; the solar kettle means no more reliance on gas stoves and no more heavy and expensive gas canisters. No dangerous flames. Just an unlimited source of free energy!

It works, just not well engineered
The unit will heat water to the boiling point in about 2-3 hours, depending on the outside air temp. However, it has a major design flaw. the unit will come apart and the glass tube will fall out without warning. It happened to me twice, the second time the glass shattered and i had to toss it out. The hinges that hold the "wings" in place are just plastic pins. they will not hold the unit together if you fold the wings closed and pick the unit up. When you do that the weight of the glass tube containing the water will just fall out the bottom and break.

Broke the first time I used it! Held it ...
Broke the first time I used it! Held it by the handle, the entire top came off and shattered to the ground, with boiling hot water in it, which spashed back onto me. It worked, the water was boiling in less than 1 1/2 hours, I just never go to utilize it!

Works well but too small
It cannot even take 16.9 oz of water. It looks like it was meant to make tea for a sunbird.

Solar Flask
The unit is not made very well. It literally fell apart right out of the box.

Not worth the price but it works
Took an hour+ to get hot but not too hot to touch plus the price is excessive....feel like product is a ripoff

Fabulous. Delicate like your cell phone or SLR.
Fabulous products. Extremely ethical. Handle with extreme care and you'll be delighted. The vacuum bottle is a necessary part and it is very vulnerable to shocks. And the plastic housing is a bit delicate. So what? Fabulous product.
