Are these suitable for a smooth painted wall, want to use as a splashback behind kitchen sink. Also how easy to reposition if suitable for a painted w

I have them as a splash back behind my cooker on white tiles and they are great. I also have a few behind the kitchen sink and again on tiles and they are working. I can't answer your question about a 'painted wall' but if the wall is smooth they should work. Repositioning them could be difficult as they really do stick. Maybe check with the Supplier just to be safe.

Has anyone used these in a hearth please? Photos would be welcomed

Yes, used on both fireplace back and hearth. Very robust. Buy more than you need to make sure same pattern not together

Would these be a good option to cover painted tiles.

Yes, these tile transfers will cover painted tiles. Make sure that the paint is not coming off the tiles as the tile stickers will stick to the paint and if the paint is coming off then the sticker will come off with the paint.
