Pentair Pentek SW-2 Spanner Wrench for Standard Housings

Simple but effective tool! The only issue I had was losing it, but I just bought a second one and I keep them hung up next to both water filters.

It’s a good wrench, sturdy, solid and everything. But if you’re looking for the Express water filter wrench for 10” filters or 12” filter canisters this one is not it, it’s too big. also I order the “standard” version.

Wrench does it’s job if used properly. Key is not using it to tighten the filter housing. Only use it to remove, and only hand tighten. I made the mistake of (over) tightening the housing with the wrench. Later when trying to remove the housing for a filter change, the wrench broke apart at the ring. Tighten by hand, no wrench!

Although it may not be necessary to use this tool, it works well and makes the job easier. To make on and off of the housing easier, I use a this coating of high viscosity silicone grease on the threads and "O" ring that does not have any negative effects on either the plastic or "O" ring. Make sure your lubricant is plastic friendly and non-toxic.

I use the Pentair spanner wrench to remove the filter housing from my system. The spanner wrench makes the good so much easier and faster. It is sturdy and will last.

The diameter is huge look at the details look at your own cartridge casing because this thing is huge. I thought standard size were the ones that I had which about three and a half inches. I think I'm going to keep and only because you know it's too cheap to really go to Kohl's to return it. I think I can easily burn through $3 of gas driving to and from Kohl's.

I had one of these and it broke trying to loosen the filter housing. I fixed it with a short metal strap & two very short screws [worked fine]. Then I saw a review here on Amazon by someone that bought TWO wrenches and taped them together for double the strength. So I did the same and it works beautifully. I used black Gorilla Tape at two places on the handle and straight across once on the "circle" with a narrower piece of tape. The handle being twice as thick now makes it much more comfortable to use. I'm glad I saw that review because I was moments away from buying the metal wrench [$25.00 !!]. That metal wrench would also have scarred up that clear plastic housing pretty quickly. Thank you, S

I don’t know if I ordered wrong in the product defense. But it no way came close to fitting as advertisement. I’m guessing I probably didn’t figure it out right. As far as the quality goes it looks like it would work if it fit. H

Cost low and works fine

Make sure this will work with you system. I have the RainSoft Ultrefiner II and it's way too big. I need to get a smaller one.

Product fine but wrong size so returned.

Make sure you have the right size! This one was too big for what I needed. Had to buy another white one.
