OK, after some fixes
This adaption set is needed when you want to put a bike holder on some Thule bars. In general you think: is this going to hold my bike when I drive 70 miles an hour? And yes, it will do. But one things that doesn't work are the plastic 'things' that you need to screw down, to a 'certain' point, which is not defined, and then you press them down. For one of my bikes, this worked fine, but when putting the other on top of the car, and push the plastic down, it broke! Didn't expect that I'm that strong. So used a spare one, but that was still feeling loose. So during the drive I had to first stop every 2 miles to clamp it back down, and find some duck tape in the end to keep it down. I will make a modification by myself. But for the price you pay for it, you don't expect you've to do that. Thule needs to go back to the drawing board!

must have thule crossbars that are slotted
The product description is not all that clear, after receiving the XAdapt 2 and actually reading the installation guide be advised you need Thule crossbars that have "slots" in them. I had a Ford factory crossbar and this fit kit is worthless to me. However, very good quality but directions are not clear and complicated.

Works with Aeroblades. Terrible instructions
The instructions really are as terrible as others have stated. I couldn't follow the instructions at all. I just winged it and made all the parts work for me in my own way. Not sure if I assembled it the right way, but it's held my bike up for 3 years now. BTW, I am using this kit on the Big Mouth bike mount, mounted on Aeroblades.

Inherited a couple of Thule bike racks of unknown model/year ...
Inherited a couple of Thule bike racks of unknown model/year, so didn't have the mounting hardware. I bought this kit for the T-nuts, and then just went out and bought some M6X0.75mm washers and nylon locking nuts to secure to my Aerobars.

Tip: use some of the rubber strip to reduce rattle when using this
Works for what it is, but it's stupid that we have to buy a separate mounting kit.I found that the pieces for mounting the back had a tiny bit of space after putting things together; slide some of the rubber strip that comes with the roof rack in between the mount and the rack to get rid of the rattle.

Worst instructions Ever
The instructions are terrible because there are 3 sets. The instructions are terrible because there are two different lengths of T bolts. I don't have a VW so I guessed to use the 35mm. It was a good guess.

Shame it's a separate purchase, but works perfectly.
Perfect product, but took off a star because I think it's a bit weak that the bike carrier doesn't just come with these bits and pieces to begin with.
