Inexpensive, compact and easy to install. New lens has a better aperture, but only 130 degrees FOV
This is a review for Spy Tec A118C2, with firmware version from December 2016This was my first dash-cam. I think overall it is a good dash-cam - relatively inexpensive, easy to install, compact, and probably with a good picture quality although it did not work for me. The main reason is that unlike A118C, this version has a better-quality lens with narrower field of vision - only 130 degrees instead of 170. Since the dash cam's position is fixed horizontally, if it is installed at least slightly to the left (or right) off center, the image won't capture a car coming to the intersection from your right (or left). Horizontal rotation would help to remedy this, but it's impossible.Dash-cam firmware was updated with some new features not described in the manual (even on the website). In my case "Timer Lapse" got turned on accidentally, and it took several e-mail exchanges with customer service to figure out, what was wrong. Customer service does not have a phone number and response time varied between few hours to more than a day. When connected to PC, the dash-cam could only playback - "PC Connection" mode never worked.I am returning this model to try an older one (A118C - maybe it's a better fit for me)

Good Camera, Easy to use.
The media could not be loaded. Â Just installed this in my car. Setup is very easy, plugged in a 32gb SD card and started the car, It immediately starts recording. It defaults to saving a new video every 3 minutes. If the card fills up then it overwrites the oldest video.it comes with a lot of mounting hardware. 2 mounts for the camera (one is thicker wedge shaped) and a handful of clips for the wire. I kinda wish it had more clips, but i was able to wedge the wire between the windshield trim.Quality of the video is great. My windshield is at a very low angle so it picks up a lot of glare. I'd suggest getting the polarizing filter (that will be my next purchase). I can't compare it to other dash camera's, but I am very satisfied with it. We'll see how it handles the cold winter and a hot summer.FYI the timestamp on the video is wrong, we didn't update it yet.

Works well, but has less than stellar night time quality and lacks a battery for the internal clock.
I've been using this for several months now and have little in the way of complaints. I will note however that the night time recording isn't superb and being the capacitor model lacks an internal battery to keep the clock going making the in-recording one useless.Keep in mind it doesn't appear to have an internal battery for the clock as far as I can tell. There very well may be a slot for one inside that I just never saw.

SpyTec has a good reputation for support and providing the legitimate unit
2nd unit purchased. Inexpensive, compact, works well, not too obvious in the car. Video is steady and clear. Hardware seems to be substantial. Use of capacitor will correct problems with age and heat battery failure of my previous different unit. SpyTec has a good reputation for support and providing the legitimate unit.

The sound isn't perfect, but the video is clear enough
The sound isn't perfect, but the video is clear enough. No dash cam will record license plates clearly, and this is no exception, but it's very good quality for the price. I have used one in my daily driver for over a year and had no issues whatsoever. Great entry-level camera if you are considering one. Just set it up, then forget about it unless you need to use the video for something.

I upgraded from a 118c to this version, specifically for the better shielded power cable (which I didn't see on the A119). The prior version was giving my FM and HD radio too much interference. This works out much better without causing excess static when listening to the radio. Otherwise, it works fine with controls that I understand once I played around with it a bit.

Great camera so far
Great camera so far, only used it for a few weeks, but like it. Very easy setup, good mounting components, and records beautiful HD video. I put it in the glove box when I park the car in the sun. We'll see how long it lasts, but at this point, very pleased with the quality.

Awesome little camera
Awesome little camera, i'm taking one star away because of their false advertisement: it does NOT bring the polarizing filter as shown in the pictures.

The boot-up time is little slow but it works good when it's up and running
I've had this for little more than a month now and it's been reliable so far. The boot-up time is little slow but it works good when it's up and running. The picture quality is just ok, you can see license plate numbers only if you're about 12ft away or closer. But considering at this price range, it's still worth it. I took away the one star because of slow booting time and less than perfect clarity on the video quality.
