Pink Insulation Foam 1/2" Thick (4 sq ft)

Compared to buying this material (Foamular, or extruded polystyrene) at Home Depot or a similar store this is of course crazy expensive. But there you'll only get it in huge sheets and it'll be much thicker. The thickness of these sheets (14.5mm) makes them much easier to work with for model building. So only buy this if (i) you need thin sheets, (ii) you don't have store space at home for large sheets and/or (iii) you don't have an easy way of transporting a huge sheet home from Home Depot.The material itself arrived in good condition. Nice straight pieces. At first I was worried that it had been plasticized which would have made it impossible to carve or paint, but that was just a protective layer that easily peels off.

it's expensive. It's much cheaper to buy it from home depot in a 24" x 24" piece which costs $5 to $6. I didn't take any stars off for the price because it was my decision to pay the price, so I can't fault them for my choices. By the way, the piece I mentioned at home depot, it is 1' thick. So it's double the thickness for half the price. If you do not have a store near you that carries these boards, then feel good knowing these are just fine.

This was my first time buying insulation foam for crafts. This purchase was from Dlh western. I was immediately disappointed by the warping and bent corners. Due to this, I had to choose which parts of my art I didn't mind being bent etc. I bought more foam a second time, this time though Amazon sent me foam from Eagle Electronic Accessories and those ones are perfect! Those are the perfect squares in the attached images. The bent ones are from Dlh. Please note I painted the other side of them before taking the photos. I haven't tried cutting the Eagle foam yet but overall, if you are going to buy foam, I recommend get it specifically from Eagle not Dlh.

Good for art

As good as you could imagine a piece of foam, just the price that a bit unreasonable.
