Solid performance; excellent screen clarity
I got this set for my Mom who has poor eyesight, and it's been working out very well. The screen is clear and easy to read -- the white background on the screen really helps with clarity. It's also nice to have a lit keypad to aid with dialing in less than ideal light situations.Performance has been excellent. It replaces another Panasonic DECT-type phone system that was (and continues) to work great after several years of heavy use. Sound quality is excellent as is range.I especially like that Panasonic continues to use easy-to-find rechargeable batteries for the handsets rather than a custom battery like most other manufacturers. The batteries are standard AAA size and can be replaced with any rechargeable in that size, such as the Amazon Basic brand or the Eneloops. There are many options in the setup menu for basic operation, such as 10 different ring tones, screen contrast, ring volume, etc. The menu system to get into the options and change things is straightforward and can be used by just reading the screen prompts rather than have to break out the manual. It was also easy to set up a phone directory list. The charging base for both handsets feels cheaper than my older Panasonic. It's workable, but feels a lot more flimsy. Other than that, the build quality is excellent.Very pleased, and hopefully I'll get as many years out of this model as I have with older models.

Impressed with upgraded features on new Panasonic model
So far, I love these phones. Callers sound clearer than on my previous Panasonic phones, and the handsets are lighter. I'm not wild about the white plastic on the back of the handsets, but that's a small issue (I would have preferred grey, silver, or black plastic). After the initial 7-hour charge, I found the phone book to be easy to find, easy to edit, and I enjoy the different groups so I can put family in one, friends in one, businesses in one, etc. The caller ID feature is easy to read (requires caller ID subscription) and there is a nice variety of ring tones to choose from. The screen is white with black letters, which is very easy on the eyes and the type is large and easy to read. Something I didn't expect but really like is that it automatically picked up on the voicemail set up and the display shows when I have new messages (I have phone service--and voicemail--through my cable company). I love that the additional handsets don't require a separate phone line and the intercom feature is handy. My model doesn't have the answering machine built in, so I don't have the speaking caller ID on this phone, but did on my previous model. I won't miss that, but sometimes the pronunciations were pretty funny ("political call" was pronounced "polly tickle call"). I like being able to mount the phone on the wall, although it's rather goofy looking...but it keeps it out of the reach of my 5yo who likes to play phone operator. :) We use the speaker phone option quite a bit, and one caller said that it sounded better than my previous Panasonic phones (less of a vibrating sound). The further the speaker phone gets from your mouth the worse it sounds, but that may not be something you would use very often. This model is very similar to my previous phone, but I like the upgrades and improved features on this model! I hope it will last us several years!

Good product, price, and features.
This Panasonic KX-TGD212N DECT 6.0, 2 Handset landline replacement telephone is working well. It consists of 1 base unit part number KX-TGD210 and 2 handset part number KX-TGDA20. 1 handset sits on the home base, and the other one sits on its own charger. Both need to be plugged into an electrical outlet for charging. A black locator button on the homebase can by pushed to find the handset when it is not there and you've forgotten where you left it last. The sound in these units is ok. The volume can be set to 4 different levels, and the ringer can be set lower or off when the grandkids come and you don't want to move the handset out of their bedroom. Another good feature is call blocking for up to 60 phone numbers. Simple, clear menu instructions are provided in the operating manual. A disappointing feature is the Caller Id- Phonebook since it works like your old flip phone where you have to type in the name to correspond to each phone number of the 100 that can be stored. For example a letter "S" is on the the number 7 on the keypad and needs to be pressed 4 times to get to it (P Q R S). That's tedious to put in names with the numbers so that the name is displayed with the phone number in Called ID. Thankfully the Phonebook is shared with any registered handsets redeeming this disappointment. This homebase has replaced a former Panasonic corded answering machine with 1 handset that was no longer working. The homebase for this Panasonic unit KX-TGD210 does not have an answering machine, which is fine in my set up. It is plugged into a Consumer Cellular wireless ZTE home base with an answering machine built into that. The ZTE wireless home base with answering machine is a cellular receiver so the corded landline from AT&T at $38 per month for only local calling can be stopped. The cost of the line at Consumer Cellular is $10/mo + talk + data = approx $15-$20/month and includes long distance. The ZTE wireless also plugs into the house wired main jacks as well to send the calls to any old cradle corded (non-caller id, non-call waiting, etc) landline phones that you still have and don't want to replace yet. I have 5 still working. Additional handsets number KX-TGDA20 can be purchased with a charging base and added later by registering to the home base through simple menu steps in about 30 seconds. Overall a good product that fits a current need to lower the overall phone bill within a few months,

This is a Fantastic phone, much easier to use than Vtech brand!
I have tried both Panasonic and Vtech cordless phones over the past 12 months. I have found that even the least expensive Panasonic model performs better than even expensive Vtech cordless phones! For example, this Panasonic is super easy to program, so much so that one does not even need to refer to documentation. The LED display is very bright compared to Vtech which is very dim and hard to see. The Panasonic is just so much easier to use, and you can tell it is a more quality and carefully designed product. So even if Panasonic is a few dollars more perhaps, I guarantee you will be more satisfied with this brand them VTEC. At least that has been my experience. I hope this review helps
