rod works nicely
This rod works nicely for cleaning pistol bores. The handle is comfortable and sturdy; and if feels like it will last a good, long time. It swivels smoothly to allow brushes/patches to follow the rifling in the bore - actually it does this better than any of my other cleaning rods. The protective finish is holding up so far and seems pretty durable. I only have one complaint: The slotted end (patch loop) that comes with it has a very tiny slot. It works with some types of patches that are very thin material, or for smaller calibers. I prefer to cut up old t-shirts and use them for patches, and the larger sizes I use for 45LC and 9MM don't fit very well (or at all) in the slotted end that comes with this rod. It's not that big a deal though, because the brass and nylon patch loops I already have fit the standardized threading on the end of the rod and work just fine.Definitely works better than the cheap brass pistol rod I got with the inexpensive kit I had been using, which didn't swivel at all. Excellent value for the price here on Amazon. Overall, I'm happy and my guns are clean!Warning: One thing I did think of is that the longest barrel I've cleaned with it is a 5.5" revolver and brushes barely come out the chamber end enough to reverse direction. I don't know if this would work for barrels much longer than 5.5". I use a rod-guide on the muzzle so it would probably be about the same for a 6" barrel without a rod-guide. I doubt you would be able to reverse a brush if you tried to clean a 7" or 8" barrel with this rod, even though the summary claims so. It would probably work fine for patches on 7" or 8" barrels, but not for brushes unless your brush is only an inch long - then maybe you could do a 7" barrel. It would really suck to get a brush stuck in your revolver barrel so I felt obliged to give fair warning!

Great cleaning rod except for missing buffer/bumper pad as shown in picture
This cleaning rod is perfect for cleaning both my .22 and .45 caliber pistols. The handle rotates freely and the length is just right for cleaning full 5 inch long barrels and of course shorter barrels. The rod and patch holder are coated to prevent scratching of gun and helps prevent damaging rifling (common sense still required here). I recommend this cleaning rod. I see no reason to spend more money on one. One drawback is the deceiving picture. Mine did not come with the buffer/bumper pad as shown which is why I only gave it 4 stars.

Works as it should
I use this cleaning rod to clean my .38 special and it works very well. I did notice some of the red paint had chipped off where the two pieces screw together. I'm going to take a star off for that because there's no reason to have paint be chipped like that right out of the box. Other than that minor detail, it works great and the price was excellent. I would recommend this product to others.

Pistol Cleaning Rod
A good cleaning rod for semiautomatic pistols or revolvers although it's a tad short for my 6&7/8 Ruger Mark III; however, this isn't a problem, since the brushes, mops, jags, etc. provide enough connector length that the accessory completely clears the barrel, when cleaning from the muzzle end. Cleaning from the Magazine end would be a different story. Recommended!

Does its job
The rod arrived with the product packaging opened. It looked like it was from someone's return item. And it came without that circular thing on the rod as shown in the picture. Not sure how either these kind of poor packaging and missing parts could have passed the manufacturer's QA inspection/program, or how Amazon could have missed how poorly the product packaged and still shipped it out. However, it still does its job and seems pretty sturdy.
