Why does the 1/2" NPT thread measure ~0.84" instead of 0.5"?

NPT is an industry standard, not a ruler measurement. a 1/2" NPT female thread physically measures ~0.84". It perfectly fits standard 1/2" NPT male fittings.

My hose has a 1/2" Outer Diameter (OD). Will this fit?

No. Barb size matches the hose's Inner Diameter (ID). You must use a hose with exactly a 1/2" ID.

Is it rust-proof? Can I use it for drinking water?

It’s premium solid brass and highly rust-resistant (ideal for air/water/oil), but it is NOT recommended for potable (drinking) water.

What if there is a slight leak at the threads?

NPT threads require sealant. Always wrap 2-3 layers of Teflon tape on your male threads before connecting for a leak-proof seal.

My hose is too stiff to push onto the barb. Any tips?

Dip the hose end in hot water for 10 seconds to soften it. It will slide on easily and grip tightly as it cools. Always add a hose clamp for high pressure.
