Would these be suitable for someone who is partially sighted

Hello, the tiles are bigger and clearer than an ordinary scrabble set and board is larger. My guess is that with partial sight this set would be ok. Dpends of course on the level of sight loss but I hope this helps.

Do the plastic tiles lock into place on the board?

No they don’t. Believe you need the delux version for that The super scrabble is just bigger but makes for a longer game
