Smells and tastes like raisins
I loved the price, loved the packaging and it shipped VERY quickly (I received it next day!!). As soon as I opened the bag, though, the smell nauseated me. It smelled exactly like raisins. I couldn't even try it because of the smell. However, everyone has different tastes. My daughters both really like it (but also said, "Yep, it tastes like raisins." So, if this is appealing to you, you might like it. It just wasn't spiced chai taste at all.

Somewhat bland
The tea itself is solid. The blend could really use more spices, particularly cardamom.

Flat, tasteless brew. No taste of spices, no good taste of tea.
I could detect neither a flavor of spices nor a good taste of tea. Very disappointing. I'd return it if I could.

Delicious, Mild-Tasting Chai Tea, But Please Leave Out the Artificial Flavor!
Overall, this was a pleasant if mild-tasting chai tea. I used my glass teapot with a strainer and let the tea leaves sit in the boiling hot water for about five minutes before drinking. According to their website (the bag itself oddly doesn't list the ingredients), this tea is made of: Chinese black OP tea, cinnamon, clove, ginger, anise, fennel, coriander, and artificial flavor. It's a little bitter because I never add any sweeteners to my tea, but I liked the taste overall. However, I will not be buying this again. Why? "Artificial flavor". If I'm paying a premium price for a high-end tea, why is artificial flavoring being added, when there are so many spices listed already? I don't understand why companies feel it's necessary to add artificial flavor to the smallest food products, like tea. Most artificial flavors contain carcinogens. Tea has been consumed for thousands of years, way before artificial ingredients were created, and tea was just fine without it.I would buy this again only if the company revised its ingredients list to make this truly a "natural" tea.

but this just is not my favorite chai I've ever had
When I opened this bag up, it actually had a delicious scent. But when I brewed a cup, I just was not a big fan of the flavor. Adding some sugar and milk helped a bit, but this just is not my favorite chai I've ever had. There was a variety of mingling flavors. I think some people might enjoy this. It has a nice black tea base that I could taste. I guess it was just too much of all the different spices all in one tea.But I always find it worth trying many different chai teas because they all can differ so much, you never know when you are going to find your favorite. This one is not overly heavy on clove, which I think is a plus. I guess the best way I could describe it is that the taste really is a mix of many different herbs and spices, a complex combination. If that sounds good to you, give this a try.One chai that I really love is by Higgins & Burke. It has spice, but not overwhelming, and I can taste the cardamom, which sometimes gets overwhelmed in other chai teas.

Not bad, but not a favorite
I've tried a lot more teas than the average person. Hundreds, actually... so I know a good tea when I have one. For me, chai is always hit and miss. While this wasn't awful, I don't really consider it a hit. Looking at the list of ingredients, I thought this would be really great, but it had a strange flavor I couldn't quite pinpoint... I think it might be fennel? I guess I prefer chais that have more cinnamon and cardamon as opposed to ginger and fennel (I don't believe this has ginger, but I know a lot of chais with heavy ginger have turned me off). Also, I suspect that the black tea used in this might be a Chinese tea, which has a bit of a smoky flavor.I don't think it's the tea's fault as much as it is my fault for the ingredients not being my preference. It isn't a bad tea, but there is a reason why we have the expression, "it's not my cup of tea." I suppose this isn't my cup. (for the record, my favorite chai tea is still Teavana's Mataraja Chai Oolong.)

Serviceable chai.
This is a very serviceable chai tea. I'm not a tea fanatic and frankly I enjoy the scent as much as anything when making hot tea. And I'm a bit lazy, so usually, my hot teas (whether black, green, chai, earl grey, etc. etc.) are via a k-cup. Fast and easy. Hot. Nice smell. The Tattle Tea Chai is, to my untrained palate, a step above k-cup chai tea or an inexpensive grocery store chai. It certainly has a strong and pleasant scent, both in the bag or after brewing. Loose leaves, of course, do smell better than a tea bag that's been sitting on a shelf for weeks. I won't say, though, that this is the best tasting chai of my life. To me, the taste was not as strong as the scent. I had hoped for more of a spicy kick. It isn't bad...and again, it's better than cheap stuff (which is what I generally have), but I've sampled better at Teavana or even from a "fancy" coffee shop. For me, it would not be worth the extra money for the slight improvement in taste and the inconvenience of making loose-leaf tea (I told you I was lazy about my tea.) It's perfectly fine, and I'm sure the less lazy won't mind the extra effort.I've spent so much time describing my own tea habits so that, hopefully, you can put my thoughts into proper context. If you are a tea fanatic, don't listen to me!!
