The best bang for the buck
The Tekna copper is by far one of the best spray guns I have ever used, lays down the paint and clear like glass, you really can't go wrong with it , great for entry to professional refinisher , I give it a 10 across the board for sealer , base and clear coating.

this gun out performs them very comfortable feel in your hands and lays the clear out ...
Been in the business for 36 years , been using the Sata jet 5000 guns which start at $700, this gun out performs them very comfortable feel in your hands and lays the clear out like glass. I actually bought the pro lite one first, which in turn made me buy another. Awesome guns and I highly recommend it

Excellent choice from a 32 year painter
Excellent gun, I've used devilbiss for over 20 years switched to sata for 9 years now I'm back due to the sata not laying the material on flat, this gun does the trick

With tricky paints, this isn't the gun to use!
I am somewhat baffled by these glowing reviews. They all sucked me in that's for sure. I found this gun to be extremely difficult to use when spraying semi-translucent pearls. The 7E7 cap focuses the paint to be noticeably heavy in the center of the fan rather than more evenly distributed through the entire spread of the fan. The result is that you'll get sever tiger striping, unless your overlaps are DEAD ON! And once you're heavy in on area there's no fixing it, it's full stop, resand, and try again. I shot the same paint with a SATA 4000 with the standard HVLP air cap, and low and behold it was a million times easier to get paint on nice and even. Even my test spray patterns showed a huge difference, much darker in the center 4-5 inches of the 9-10 inch fan on the Tekna, versus a very even distribution of paint with across the full 10-11 inch fan of the SATA 4000. Even the clear coat went on better with the SATA gun, the Tekna can to nice clear, but you really have to thin it out, and then you risk (and I got) solvent pop. Overall, I wish I had bought the ProLite, and if there was anyway I could exchange for one of those, I'd give Devilbiss a second look. But, for now I'm a SATA guy all the way.
