Great filter!
After putting up with frustrating leaking problems with a PUR filter for months, this was a great find. The flow is excellent, the water tastes great, the unit is very well built and sturdy, and the display is very handy. It's great having a filter that measures the actual amount of water used instead of just turning red after a certain amount of time. At the rate I'm using the water, which I thought was a lot, the replaceable filter should last close to a year. The unit is very easy to install. I'm extremely happy with this purchase.Edit - January 2015 (8 months later). I wanted to report that after eight month this filter is still working perfectly and is reporting that I've only used 143 gallons. This surprises me, I thought I used much more water, but it means that the original filter will last about a year. I would have gone through four or five of the PUR filters by now. So this has been a great savings! The water still tastes great and there are no leaks.Edit - 3/24/15 My filter hit 200 today. So the original filter lasted just three weeks short of a year. The last glass of water I drank from when the filter read 200 tasted as good as it has all year. The filter was easy to replace and the display lets you know when it's ready to use. I had to run water through it for about three minutes. You may wonder why I've taken the time to update this review over the year. It might appear I have no life! Quite the contrary. It's just that my experience with the PUR filters was such a nightmare and I put up with it too long. So when I use this well designed, reliable, non-leaking filter throughout the day I'm reminding I should let people know what a great product this is.

Used Pur water filters for TEN YEARS and should've switched to DuPont long ago!
Love this water filter. We had the Pur filters for TEN YEARS and finally had to switch and now we wonder why we waited so long. The DuPont filters are nicely designed, slimmer than the Pur filters, come with clear concise accurate installation instructions, and they even give you a little roll of that thin plumber's tape to line the threads of the faucet adapter when you screw it on so it doesn't leak. I can't emphasize that enough -- it doesn't leak! The Pur filter is supposed to be so convenient with it's new one-click snap-on attachment. You save ten seconds by just "snapping" it on instead of screwing it on like about how much time it takes to twist on a bottle cap. But they leak and you can't tighten the attachment or use a different rubber gasket or apply some of that plumber's tape to the threads because there is nothing to do -- you're supposed to just enjoy the convenience of clicking in into place. But when that inevitably results in leaks, as it always seems to, you're out of luck -- you can't click it on harder, or snap it on more securely. The DuPont filter twists on snugly, you can tighten it as much as you want, try the different threaded faucet adapters they provide, use the plumber's tape, and make sure it is on good and tight and works great. We feel dopey that we stuck with Pur as long as we did -- these DuPont filters are much better designed. And the LED display is pretty awesome, too -- tells you exactly how many gallons of water you have purified.

I bit hard to install....
I installed this water filter 4 different times. The first 3 times it kept leaking from the unit itself and not where the unit connects to the faucet. It even leaked around the handle that turns from filtered to non filtered water. I was about to return it as defective when I decided to get some pliers, a soft cloth and really screw the unit to the faucet. The 4th time was a charm and I know to remove it I will have to use the pliers and cloth again. It is on to stay !. It did seem to waste a lot more water clearing the new filter than my old Brita did. I wish I had filled pots to measure but I had no reason to believe it would take more water to clear the charcoal out of the new filter than a Brita would. I am on a privately owned water system and our water is terribly expensive, so every drop counts. I could just see dollars running down my sink drain while I waited for the "OOO" on the meter to tell me the filter was ready for drinking water. It is NOT easy to see the filter. It's got a blue back light, so you have to bend down to get at eye level of the filter reader and the light only stays on 5 seconds. I won't be checking the water as frequently as I originally thought. Taste wise the water is good. No chlorine taste which was what I hated most about our water. I thought I was drinking out of a swimming pool before I began using filters. I bought this model so I could know when to replace the filter. I was tired of guessing with the Brita and it's electronic light system that failed more times than it worked. This unit is much bigger and seems to be made better than the Brita and especially the new PUR filter systems. It's plastic but it has a solid feel to it.At this point, I recommend this filter system. Just be prepared for possible connection leaks. My faucet had outside threads so no adapters, rings etc. were needed.UPDATE Feb.27, 2014:Still liking this filter and am glad I changed from the Brita to this one. I am amazed at how long this 200 gal filter will last. I guess I thought I was filtering more water than I actually was. I fill up my plastic water bottles, put them in the fridge to chill so I'll have water beside my bed at night. No more naming a landfill after all the plastic bottles I bought and used. I make my iced tea and cook with the filtered water also. I've even put filters on my shower heads to remove the chlorine in the shower water. Better for my hair and skin. This water filter is a keeper !

Only lasted 3 months...
The filter is no longer usable. We have only had it for 3 months, and the rubber washer where it connects to the faucet has already corroded, broken into pieces and fallen out. So now the regular faucet water leaks into whatever we filling up along with the filtered water, making the filter totally useless.Previous rating: 4 starsThis filter is doing what it’s supposed to do, water tastes great and it comes out with a pretty steady stream. The only reason for 4 stars is that I struggle with attaching it to the faucet at times. It’s too big ( or my sink is too small) for us to wash dishes with it still attached. Sometimes if it’s not connected to the faucet all the way correctly, water sprays everywhere, but it’s an easy enough fix to just tighten it some more.

Excelente
