Moonrays 95804 Cable - Galena Landscape Low Volt Lights, Rubbed, Bronze

I needed almost 3 dozen low voltage landscape lights for my long driveway. These Galenas appealed due to the great price and simple, attractive design. I got this one on Amazon initially for a "test." It is SO much better than my old Apollo lights. This has none of the same issues:1. Dirty glass -- there is no glass around the bulb in these. It is an open design. I always had bugs and ants getting into my Apollos.2. Height -- my pachysandra grew almost as tall of my Apollos. These are around 16" tall.3. Ground stake -- My old ones were some kind of awful angle iron that always bent and was tough to insert and level. These are a solid cast metal (aluminum I think) that have a nice cross-pointed design. The only thing I did not like is they cut out a 90 degree section of the threaded collar that mates with the tube up to the light socket. This is to let the (kind of too short length of) wire pass through to the main wire attachment connection box.4. Bulbs -- I wanted to use LED bulbs instead of halogen (seems it is hard to find lights that come with LEDs, so seem you have to retrofit). I found that AC powered LEDs are kind of big and thus often do not fit many landscape lights. The DC powered LEDs they often use in cars are much smaller (and may not work from AC-powered landscape transformers). There is just enough room in these lights for LEDs I got on Amazon, fairly cheap:  LEDwholesalers T10 Wedge Base Omnidirectional 2-Watt LED Light Bulb 12 Volt AC/DC or 10-30V DC (6-Pack), Warm White, 14602WWx6 .5. Construction -- My Apollos were hard to take apart for repairs and bulb changes. There was no access to the socket and it looked like a very hard to find part. These Galenas are of a much simpler design. The wire goes through the tube to a plastic wedge-type bulb socket that is held in by one screw. The top mushroom-looking shade unscrews off if needed (for socket repairs, cleaning, repainting, etc. I am sure going to put some grease on all the threads though -- a hard lesson I learned from the Apollos (also aluminum) is that the threads wick-in water and soon corrode to the point they are very hard or impossible to later unscrew.Anyhow, I ordered a big lot of the LEDs and these Galena lights. For around $17 for light and LED bulb, it's a good bargain and they should last many years. I also got some spares (another lesson I learned -- the Apollos were discontinued by the time I wanted to get some more replacements -- all these lower-end 12 volt landscape lights are fairly easily damaged).

These are really great fixtures. I have 25 of them installed now. They are attractive and illuminate a large area.The all metal fixtures also feature a white interior so there is good light reflection. They are a snap to install too. I throw away the included connector and use a third party version (Hampton Bay #1001-491-871). The included "box" connectors just don't work.My only gripe is that I wish the opening for the bulb was larger to accommodate my favorite bulb (Feit Electric LVW18/LED 20-Watt) - which look great in these fixtures. I just have to put the bulb in after the top is screwed in.I broke a light socket once and found a replacement that was easy to install.Also, they don't shine up or in your face like some "bollard" style fixtures. I was told that these fixtures are "dark sky compliant". I guess that means that because the light shines down below a 45 deg angle they don't produce light pollution.

Nice addition to my landscape lighting. Will purchase again as the need arises.

Very affordable sturdy metal light. Paired with LED bulb (Makergroup T5 T10 Wedge Base 921 912 12V LED Light Bulbs 4W Warm White 2700-3000K) rather than included 11 watt halogen bulb. Gave 3 stars cause it uses old style connectors with screws (back to losing tiny screws in mulch and grass!!) and it does NOT include anything to protect the bulbs. The description says “the bulb is protected by a frosted plastic housing which keeps out moisture, dust and dirt” — well, none of the six I purchased had any housing. I’ll call the manufacturer to see if they’ll ship me some. If not, I’m going to set them up and see how many bugs and ants collect in the housing in three weeks. If it’s bad, I’ll ship return them using Amazon Prime easy returns.

I often have a need to add length or stronger stems or different mounting means to fixtures in my instalations but this fixture stem is not a standard US / NPT size as more expensive fixtures would be. I was disapointed.

Very easy to install and for three months now they have been working great. They are not really bright but they do light up the walkway.

Nicely constructed of real metal, unlike so many low-cost plastic lights. I switched incandescent bulbs provided for LED for even less use of electricity. I would be nice if the lights came with LED bulbs.PS - I don't know what "Sheerness" means in the context of these lights, but since the lights a excellent I gave a 5 star rating so as not to detract for the overall rating.

These are smaller than what I thought I was buying. Great metal casing and design...wish it was bigger in size. I am using a 24 LED bulb instead of the incandescent bulb it came with and found it now is 4 times brighter

Solid metal construction and quite bright for low voltage. We purchased 5 and they look great following the outline of our garden along with two LED Spotlights which we used to highlight the base of two trees. The hook up was a challenge as the connector boxes provided don't fit the main cable very well without quite a bit of effort.

It looks good but the size is smaller than I expect.
