Innovation and tradition share equally deep roots at SCARPA, a muti-generational, family-owned business whose headquarters and manufacturing facilities are in the same region of northern Italy where it was founded in 1938. SCARPA builds performance footwear for climbing, hiking, skiing, mountaineering, trail-running and other outdoor pursuits. Aside from being the Italian word for "shoe," SCARPA is an acronym for Societa Calzaturiera Asolana Riunita Pedemontana Anonima (Associated Shoe Manufacturing Company of the Asolo Mountain Area).

Great Travel Shoe
I was looking for a shoe that was attractive enough to wear around town or dress up a bit but rugged enough for light hiking, biking, exploring, etc.: essentially, the "I only need to pack one pair of shoes" shoes for a trip with a bit of everything. This shoe is comfortable, stylish, and so far has held up very well. They are perhaps a bit thin in the sole, as you would expect from an approach-style shoe made by a climbing company, but there is plenty of room to add a more structured insole or additional padding if you wanted it. The Vibram sole grips well without feeling heavy or chunky, and the upper materials are durable but light. An all-around excellent shoe.EDIT: After having these shoes for a while, I've reduced my rating from 5 stars to 4. Most of what I say above is still accurate, but the upper started to separate a bit from the sole not long after purchasing these shoes. It seems to be primarily cosmetic--the sole remains firmly attached, there's just some separation around the edges--but given the price tag, I expected construction of higher quality.

Difference in Scarpa shoe sizes
I purchased these recently with high expectations - having bought a pair of the Scarpa Mojito nearly three years back and they have held up wonderfully including a few trips overseas with plenty of walking. However, the Margarita pair, while ordered in the same size as the Mojito, are uncomfortably small. I was hoping I would be able to break them in/stretch the toe box out enough before my upcoming trip overseas, but sadly that did not happen. So now I am stuck with a relatively expensive shoe that doesn't fit properly. The shoe itself seems well made, especially if it is anything like the Mojito. I would suggest ordering a half size larger than expected. I'm disappointed with the difference of shoe sizes between my two pairs of Scarpa - hopefully this isn't a common issue, because they really are great shoes. Thank you.

Happy feet
The sizing is accurate, I ordered my usual men’s 11 M and it’s a perfect easy fit. The Margarita is a very well made, good looking and comfortable shoe that will replace my incredible Scarpa Mojitos that I wore out after 3 years of almost daily rough wear. I will be using my Margaritas primarily for daily wear to work but also for moderate hiking, we’ll see how well they hold up. If you like thickly cushioned soles you might want to add different insoles but I like the ones that came with the shoes as they’re light, durable and comfortable.

Decent replacement for the Caipirinhas
Bought these to replace my old Scarpa Men's Caipirinhas that are now almost worn out. Not exactly the same fit, but a great alternative since they don't make the former shoe anymore. Solid construction and loafer feel if you leave the laces super loose. The sizing on these is slightly larger than the Caipirinhas, so if you're looking to replace those, try a half size to a full size smaller in the Margarita, depending on how tight your Caips were. Mine were cramped in the toes, and my same size Margs (43.5) let my feet shift side to side a tiny bit.

I will definitely buy more once I wear these out or want more colors.
these are great shoes, I wish I had purchased them sooner.they're light weight and made well, comfortable enough to wear all day. I never had any hot-spots breaking them in.they lace all the way to the toes, so you can tie them to be snug and/or loose where you want.the soles are thin so you can feel what you're stepping on, and the rubber has good traction and is durable I can't really see any wear (other than dirt) and I walk to work in them every day.I normally wear between a 9-9.5, got these in a 9.5 and they're perfect for me, so I'd say they're a little on the small side for a 9.5these are a solid, plain (in a good way), uncomplicated shoe. I will definitely be buying more from Scarpa.

Amazing shoes!
January 2018 Update:These are great shoes and certainly have held up to my vigorous walking around Seattle. However, the insoles have not. They wore out pretty quickly and caused the shoes to be uncomfortable. So be prepared to replace them. I picked up some Honey Soles and those have brought these back to life.Original March 2017 Review:These are the best casual/tennis shoes I've ever put on my feet. Fit perfect right out of the box, they feel amazing. I hope they keep making these for a long time, maybe in other colors too.

GREAT Shoes
These tend (like most European shoes) to run a little small. I'd suggest ordering 1/2 to 1 size larger. However, I am very active outdoors and these are some of the best, most comfortable (and good-looking) shoes I have ever purchased. I will buy again — IF they ever wear out — which I don't anticipate happening for a very long time. A great purchase!

Without question 1/2 a size too small (for me)
I love this shoe as a replacement for the seemingly discontinued Scarpa Caipirinha. I am always a 9.5 (US) shoe size, and that is the size I had for my Caipirinhas, so I assumed that would be correct for the Margaritas. However, when I tried them, my toes were uncomfortably pinched towards the toe of the shoe, so I went 1/2 a size up to 10 and now they fit perfectly. This is a comfortable, sturdy everyday shoe great for the city and hiking. It's my #1 go-to travel shoe.
