KING OF WALKERS/ROLLERS!
This was a 5 star product; we are an engineering business so look for the best products, most well designed, and we are overly critical when shopping/evaluating due to our experience in the field. This is the best walker/rollator out there, engineering wise, stability wise, comfort wise; only be aware this particular model is the LARGEST version, such as for a tall person and for indoor/outdoor, emphasis on outdoor use (if doing rugged outdoor walking a regular size person may prefer this as well; its basically the ATV/SUV King of rollers! It ended up being a bit big for me, as a woman, but this company is so professional and helpful, they took it back and advised me on a better fitting size (there are many, plus see their website). I am going to go with the Discovery model, which also has outdoor type padded wheels bc we like to go on the park trails, but which isn't quite as big as this. This would be ideal for a tall person (eg this will be the model I'd buy for my 6' plus husband or father if they needed one), or someone using it for serious outdoor activity like on the beach etc. Otherwise if you are an average woman, you may prefer the Shadow or other lighter smaller model. fyi, There are also wide models of most for a wider seat. Again, I would choose this make over any other, even if you need to decide between models which is right for you (they will email if you are not sure on size etc), but we looked worldwide and this is the strongest, most well engineered product; smooth rolling, ball bearings, plastic or padded wheels 8-10 inch (get padded if using outside), sturdy seat (unlike many which come with a cloth or sling like seat) and very cool looking to boot! easy to fold, pop in car etc. Cannot recommend this make or company enough!

Large wheels enable use on rough roads.
My wife and I are both in our 80s and we are finding mobility to be an ever-increasing challenge. Since we live part of the year on an unimproved road on a mountaintop in NC, we were looking for a walking aid that could handle that demanding environment. After considerable research, I settled on the Volaris Patrol rollater with its 10” wheels. We have now been using the Patrol for several weeks and it is a good fit for our needs. The large wheels enable it to negotiate dirt and gravel roads with ease - - small wheels would have been useless. While it is a fairly large device, it is well designed/constructed and we have no trouble in lifting it in and out of the trunk of our car. My wife has taken it to her knitting group and it has attracted a lot of attention. Of course, the cost is substantial, but it is a quality product with great utility. My wife has pretty well taken the Patrol over for her exclusive use and I will probably have to buy another one for my use. I will not hesitate to do so. I was also pleased with the excellent service provided by Karen at X-L-Ent Care.

FLAWS
While I have hopes of using this item in my garden, I am shocked to see 100% favorable ratings for this much flawed product. 1) The examination period is a mere 2 days, and testing on natural terrain is discouraged via restocking charges. 2) A basket, seat cushioning, and a backrest are options; wheeled walkers a third the cost include all three. 3) The seat is barely a ledge 9" (?) deep. The peculiar geometry of its front edge has nearly square corners that dig into my thighs. 4) Since the adjustment track for the seat is inboard, you have two poor options. Shred your clothes on exposed notches or fill those notches with provided plugs. Because removing the plugs requires a prying tool or fingers of steel, the fancy latches involved will be getting little or no use. The thoughtlessness of choosing appearance over function is the only obvious reason the adjustment track and latches weren't placed outboard of the seat. Moreover, I don't find the track all that unattractive. 5 thru 9) Problems with small hand grip, nuisance of grip "guard," easily unlatched brakes, absence of handhold at balance point, and the decrease in maneuverability due longer wheelbase. 10) Unless you are porting it upright as you might in a full-size van, it takes more floor space and effort to load it than does a more conventional unit. Only after it is loaded can one recover some of the floor space and that's a lot of work for the impaired or their help..

Better on rough surfaces
This is a better built walker. The construction provides a smoother, steadier roll. The larger wheels do allow you to travel over rough terrain -- without much trouble at all. By rough, I mean grass, small gravel, dirt paths, and other outdoor places that are difficult for standard rollers. It is larger, but it is super easy to fold and fits in the back of our station wagon and SUV. I find it easier to lift and place in back of car than the standard walker because of design, despite it weighing a bit more. Now, what was not true for me is that there isn't a significant gain in the ability to stand up straight versus lean forward to push. Is it worth the money? If you plan to be outside a lot, especially in parks, farmers markets, etc. it will allow you to do that -- so that is the value question to ask about the eye-popping price tag. This is a better built walker.
