Exactly what we wanted!!
I read all the reviews, pro's and con's, those who hated the i-fit add on etc. and I knew going in I was going to set up the i-fit program and at least try it. I love it! The machine was very easy to put together, getting it upstairs prior to assembly was the hard part. (thank goodness for son-in-laws) We both use it at least 4 days a week if not more. We have had it for a couple of months now. It will do a variety of programs without the i-fit, but I really enjoy the trainers and the added motivation with different locations and such. Now I just wish I had gotten one that had a higher incline to go with the trainers. My machine will go with the trainers but only to the 12 % I have available. If you don't want the i-fit, just call and cancle after you set up the machine and get it started up. It is a really good machine.

Adequate quality given price
-First off, I read reviews on the iFit aspect. Do as others stated and hold the button down for 20 seconds and the machine will start.-All necessary components were present and undamaged. Box had sustained a fair amount of damage.-If you can, opt into the free delivery inside dwelling. It's seriously heavy. I'm a big young guy and it took quite a bit of energy and thinking to maneuver down stairs and through my home.- Assembly took me an hour with my wife handing me tools and components. Don't feel bad if it takes you longer. It probably will. Experienced maintenance tech as a career and hobbyist automotive mechanic.-Directions are fairly simple. I think most won't have much issue if any.-Operation. The display is not fancy. Nor are the features. It's adequate. In my opinion you are buying this particular model for its design, ease of use and R&D. It's not sub-par, it's just not overwhelming. It does what it needs to. Overall the appearance of the machine is very appealing (for a treadmill). It looks of good quality. Not cheap looking.-When the machine is not in use remove the magnetic key. Do not use the power switch in the front of the machine. Read next bullet as to why.-***THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT CHARACTERISTIC I HAVE TO ADD.*** The incline motor has a a design and operation which is self destructive by design. Working on many electrical components and small dc motors to three phase 480 volt 30hp electric motors over the years I noticed something very important about this machine. When you bottom out or max out the incline it does not have a "protective" way of not going up or down past it's max. It applies power to the motor even at 0* when trying to go down or 12* trying to go up. It has a relay or switch that senses the motors inability to turn (after each failed attempt) and faults out shutting the motor off. This is seriously hard on an electric motor. It's applying power and not moving which burns the brushes up in short time. I would seriously look into this being the cause of failure for most incline motor failures people experience with this model and maybe others. Why I mentioned this in the above bulletin is because when you turn the machine off with the power switch it has the tendency to "hunt" when powered back on. I have seen mine "get lost" several times after using the power switch and sometimes display the incorrect incline degree. When the machine "hunts" it makes the incline go all the way up until the motor strains and clicks then all the way down then strains and clicks. All of this automatically when turning the power back on. You don't ever want it to do this. Again, use the red "key" or magnet when not in use to turn it off. Not the power switch. Also, I only go as low as 0.5* and 11.5*. I do not reccomend using the machine to its absolute max or minimum incline. It's design, as fully stated above, is self destructive by nature.-I have 50 miles on this machine so far. Everything works as intended.EDIT... I paid $666.87 with the discount and after tax 12-11-19. It was listed for $699.99 before tax and discount. I see it's now $987.00. Honestly, I doubt I would've paid that. I would look at the 705 and see what reviewers say. $1000 for this machine (or any machine in my opinion) is a lot. Unless I got a crazy good deal... which I think the price I paid was adequate. They need to lower the price.

Great shock absortion
Things to consider before buying:This treadmill has great shock absorbtion. Its the softest running surface I have ever found on a treadmill. That is the number one reason to buy a proForm CST. If your going to be jogging or if you have a long stride, the 905 is a good buy. If your going to strictly be walking, this treadmill may be heavier and bulkier then needed, consider the 505 or 705 CST.Delivery and Set Up:My treadmill sat in a warehouse for over a week about an hour from my house because “it somehow did not get put on the delivery schedule per “amazon delivery service”. I am the type of person who enjoys putting together ikea furn so Putting this together was a fun challenge for me. It is very heavy, plan on assembling it wherever you are going to keep it. I needed occasional help from my teenager to hold things in place. The directions call for an adjustable wrench but what you really need is a size 14 wrench. A size 14 socket wrench would be ideal. I also used a mallet to tap the arms into place. There is a youtube video for this exact treadmill, i recommend watching the first 5 minutes.Turning it on:I have no interest in an app with a monthly fee but i could not avoid activating the console thru iFit. I used my ipad and carefully went thru each step looking for the “no thanks” button. It took about ten minutes but I did not enter my email address or my credit card number and managed to get it activated. Very annoying that this app is not free.Using the treadmill:Great shock absorbtion, I only use manual mode and have no interest in the included programs.I listen to music on my iphone with an aux cable, works wellAverage noise for a treadmill of its size.Biggest Cons and why its not 5 Stars:The included heart rate moniter works only occasionally. I replaced the battery and reread the instructions with no luck. I used an older moniter Ive had for years with the same result. The fault seems to in the treadmills ability to “read” the moniter. It does not display pace, only speed so I found a conversion chart online and taped it to the wall.
