Zoeller M53 Mighty-mate Submersible Sump Pump, 1/3 Hp

This is no doubt the best sump pump, USA made. My last unit lasted 12 years in very very harsh conditions including frequent clogged pipe, yet it just keeps working. Incredibly reliable, robust and will outlast any other sump pump. Very easy to set up and get going. I recommend a plastic base to keep it out of the mud if it sits on the ground

Absolutely a must if you need sump pumps. Long lasting and high quality. Really a rugged, heavy duty product. It's pretty quiet. Lots of power. No leakage so far.

I had on at my old house that was installed by the previous owner. It was quiet and worked great. I Bought my current home in 2019. They had a sump pump from Lowes that worked but it was the loudest thing ever and it ran all the time. I got tired and purchased this May 2020. Almost 6 years later it is still running like a champ. It operates quietly and when it runs its only a few seconds and back off. This thing runs a 1/3 of the time of the one I replaced. If / when this one fails, I will replace it with this same unit. Again, the review is being written almost 6 years after I purchased it.

Best pump around. Has never let me down. Every 5 to 7 years I replace it just for piece of mind knowing it's new. Keep the old ones as backups if needed.

I have hade several of these sump pumps. My home has two sumps so I need two pumps. The pumps themselves are very good quality. They last at least 5 years. HOWEVER, I have had issues with the switches that are part of the pump. They tend to fail before the pump motor. In my case, the switch failed stuck in the ON position. So I bought an external switch such as a float switch or an electronic one (electronic ones are MUCH easier to adjust). Plugging the pump into the external switch extends its life by several years. You may be able to get this pump without a built in switch and save some money and avoid the switch failure. Note the switch failure happened to BOTH my pumps.

I have had a zoeller pump in my crawl for almost 20 years with no problems. My spouse was replacing his Lowe's pump every year in his rental. It could have something to do with the disintegrated check valve, but nevertheless, every year the pump would go out. This time the crawlspace filled up. So, I bought this pump, and the zoeller check valve which is amazingly built to last, and drilled a ton of holes in a five gallon bucket, bought cheap plastic hoses from Menards and connected them so that they would reach to the sewer ditch in front of our house (about 200ft). I put this pump in the bucket and lowered into the crawlspace and it pumped the entire thing out in less than a day. It required some supervision to make sure the float didn't get stuck, and I had to hold the float up when the water was getting low and not rushing into the bucket as fast, but it worked beautifully. You will burn a pump up if you leave it running without water flow so you must watch it. It is quiet in comparison to the last ones, and doesn't vibrate the whole house. It's extremely powerful as well. We have gutters that drain into our sump pit so our pump works a little more than others. This thing is amazing. It's only been a few months, but the quality was immediately noticable. DO NOT BUY HOME IMPROVEMENT STORE PUMPS OR CHECK VALVES. I reviewed the zoeller check valve as well and it's such great quality. I'll never buy another brand. Instead of rubber insides, it contains a large, metal flap. This pump is less than I paid for the Lowe's pump last year. Do yourself a favor and get zoeller products.

Real easy to install. Cord is plenty long enough. Works great. Always use a check valve..

My 19 year old Zoeller sump seemed to be shot. I looked into the almost overflowing sump and could see the pump's float switch should have turned it on, but there was all that water. I took a stick and got the switch to turn on, but when it had almost emptied the sump, there was a spray out of the side of the cast iron casting, so I figured, "the casing is shot, the switch is shot, time to get another." The attached pic shows the old pump actually cleaned up a bit after removal, when I discovered the DPDT electrical switch was really the culprit. When the new M53 arrived I also saw that that spray must be an outlet for pressure relief or water lubrication (screw driver points to this in picture); I was wrong thinking the casing was shot. Anyway, I'm happy with the replacement pump and if I get another almost 20 years out of it, I'll be super-pleased. I should note I didn't install the pump, some basement waterproofer professionals did (that's my easy out for not understanding the side-spray/broken casing mis-diagnosis... :-) ). Also, very surprisingly, removal of the rust-encrusted screws on the old pump switch compartment was very easy. So I'm gonna replace that switch, and have this old pump as a back up pump, or use it at the lake cabin for something perhaps. One final note: The old original pump has a plastic water impeller as well as plastic base (3rd picture). I might have been inclined to get the more expensive, metal impeller model but for very clean and clear basement sump water the plastic impeller proved very reliable over the last 19 years. One final, final note: since I replaced the old pump with a new model that was virtually identical, installation literally took about 15" minutes. I just had to detach the old backflow preventer (screwed on to PVC pipe), swap out the pumps, and re-attach. It was just that easy and quick. I considered a different make, a cheaper pump, but am very glad I went with the Zoeller M53.

So far, so good. This was a DIY project by a non-plumber, and I’m really happy with how it turned out. I’ve already run 6 test cycles perfectly. It’s quiet, fits perfectly in my 12x12” sump pit, and the float seems to be working great. Highly recommend.

Tres Bonne qualité facile a installer

Supper easy to install. Built like a tank. Pumps a huge volume of water very quickly. Have had it now through three heavy storms and it does its job really well. It is also much quiter than my last sump. To the point I went down and made sure it was working. My old one you could definitely hear it downstairs turning on. This on is much quieter.

The most recent one purchased contains a light incorporated in the (plug in) which help to know if the electricity is on.
