you must de-register a handset before adding new one
The product is essentially a good product. I have owned the base for about eight years. I have had to replace one handset and have added one handset, bringing the total number to six, the maximum capacity of my base. I couldn’t figure out how to add the new handset. The literature with the handset suggested texting a Help number. I did so. A technician called me back on my cell phone. He was wonderful and solved my problem in a few moments. The customer service at Panasonic is excellent. They responded quickly to my text and knew exactly what to do. The explanation was quite clear. The technician was very pleasant.

Panasonic handset replacement
Received handset today. Handset had note that if you couldn't register with base to text or call. I called and then subsequently texted technician he walked me thru directly and new handset registered and was working no problem. Highly recommend.

Compatible with older base
I bought this handset hoping it will be compatible with an older KX-TG6511 base. I was not expecting much as older bases are not on the compatible list. However, it works perfectly. Following the instructions I turned on the handset and pressed "Locate" on the base unit for 5 seconds. The handset beeped and the service icon appeared. I charged the phone for 7 hours as instructed and all our contacts were copied to the new handset. There are a couple of new buttons on the new phone but they work too. Used KX-TG6500 series handsets are still available on Amazon but for about $4 more you can get a brand new upgraded handset. I deduce from my experience that this handset will probably work OK with any Panasonic DECT 6.0 base.

Who designs a phone system that can't be around wifi?
Who, in this day and age, designs a phone system that can't be around wifi? Yet all the dropped calls, busy signals and static that we get with this phone system can evidently be traced to this problem. We had already given up on the cellphone sync, which worked very poorly, but once the handset problem started (and it was not immediate), our exasperation with this phone system had reached new heights. The service rep told us that we needed to keep the base away from all wifi, preferably in another room from the router. The base is in our office, where one would want to have an answering machine; and in fact, that is the only working phone jack in our house. This, of course is also where our router is. The base is unbelievably sensitive to all devices with wifi or wireless, it seems, including laptops, tablets, and, ironically, cellphones. If my cellphone, for instance, is anywhere near the base, all the handsets will read as busy, in spite of the fact that I unsynced the cellphone from the system for this very reason. To put it mildly, this is really affecting the utility of our phones, since we can't use them near our computers or devices. Panasonic used to make great phone systems. What happened to you people?

Sixth extension of my KX-TG7875S system
I got this to flush out my new 7875S system to 6 extensions. I love the features, but the build quality is less than the KX-TG5776 that this system is replacing. Pros: Link2Cell is great, whether you have a "land line" or not; allows two cell phones to be paired; uses regular AAA NiMh batteries, commonly available (instead of proprietary battery packs); has eco mode that saves power if the handset is close enough to the main station. Good lcd screen visibility. Price reasonable for a handset. Excellent call quality (in our case VoIP). Cons: Silk-screen printing on front of handset wears off easily, especially if i.e. you are editing your phone book quite a bit; ringer volume not as great as our previous (KX-TG5776) and, of course, the selection of ring tones is kind of (yawn) boring. If you have an iphone, the system will reportedly integrate your ringtones into the Panasonic. Overall, I recommend this unit, as it works well and is fairly inexpensive to replace, should you need to.

Excellent phone/intercom set
In addition to good sound quality and range, Panasonics have many features and are easy to program. This model has excellent range and looks great. Its best feature is the intercom. If you have a have a few of these phones you can call other rooms, which is nice if you don't want to go up two flights of stairs to tell the kids that dinner is ready. I've had had a few Panasonic phones over the years and they never disappoint. In fact I don't tend to replace them so much as use them in different rooms, as they continue to perform (some for ten plus years) and I just suppplement with additional handsets.

I already have the main unit for this series of cordless phone for many years. I ordered this as an extra in another room of the house. It has an unexpected silver lining around its edges which makes it really stand out, and much easier to see, compared to the all black "cousins" we have in the rest of the house. Very high voice quality and transmission over wireless is flawless, even over longer distances like into the yard.

Tengo un set de estos teléfonos desde hace más de 10 años y ya me estaban fallando los auriculares, así que solo compre estos y me ahorré la base, en verdad fue una gran compra
