In the Preface to A Man Called Peter, Catherine Marshall tells of a dream she had after Peter Marshall's death: Peter was working in a rose garden and said playfully, "I know perfectly well what you've been doing, Catherine. You're writing a book. . . . It's all right, Kate. Go ahead and write it. Tell it all, if it will prove to people that a man can love the Lord and not be a sissy. . . ." Filled with wonderful humor, wisdom, and loving detail, the powerful story of Peter Marshall's life has touched the hearts and minds of millions of people. It is a book about love--the love between a dynamic man and his God, and the tender, romantic love between a man and the woman he married. It is also the gripping adventure of a poor Scottish immigrant who became Chaplain of the United States Senate and one of the most revered men in America. Through Peter's story and the powerful sermons and prayers included in this paperback edition, readers will discover insight into God, man, and life on earth and hereafter. They will also be encouraged by the realization that if God can do so much for a man called Peter, he can do as much for them. Review: a really great story - This is a wonderful story of a man's walk with the Lord. Through his perseverance he was able to over come many trials and become the man in Christ he longed to be. We too can learn from his determination. Its a very encouraging book for anyone wondering about their own life and it's place in Christ's Kingdom. Review: Inspiring - One of my most important books I have read. I shared it with my father, who also cherished the book. I no longer have my father on this planet, but I can feel him again as I reread this book and remember how similar both men were as inspirations.

Buy this book!
This inspirational story has been our favorite for years and we regularly watch the film by the same title. I was happily surprised to discover, while reading the book, so many enriching details and insights that the film of necessity omitted. I'm so glad I bought the book!

Excellent read. Deep prospective.
Rated "4" due to age of book. Content is rated "5". Condition of the book was excellent considering its age "60" and that it is out of print for so long. There were no pages missing or damaged and only stained by aging. I enjoyed every page of Catherine Marshall's well written account of Peter Marshall's ministry. A ministry truly worthy of emulating. People are lined up to read my copy including my daughter, a minister's wife. Thank you.

A wonderful book
I have read this before and loved it, so I wanted my own copy and it is forwarded by Peter Marshall's son, Peter Marshall. I had been getting newsletters from him and sad about not able to get them any more due to his death. The book looks great and reads great!

Every Christian should know this history
Great book, I'm so glad I was introduced to this piece of history. The first 2 chapters were a bit slow, but the story picks up and kept me looking forward to learning more as I read. Highly recommend!

An encouraging read
This life story of Peter Marshall, written by his wife, Catherine Marshall, is a very interesting and encouraging read. Peter Marshall was born in Scotland and followed the call of God to the United States. The humour and energy with which Peter Marshall lived his life as a Christian minister, and in particular his wonderfully creative and descriptive use of language in preaching and prayer, I found to be inspiring and challenging. He was a humble and straightforward Christian who could communicate in clear language the essence of his faith, and make it real to both the ordinary working man and to politicians in the United States Senate.

Warmly recommended.
A classic book, it has stood the test of time, and its message is as powerful - and as readable - as when it was first published. Peter Marshall was a great man of God who died of a heart attack at a young age. The book reveals why his life, though short, was such a blessing to so many people. Warmly recommended.

Great read.
Very inspiring and uplifting, a great read from cover to cover. It's just amazing the impact that seemingly ordinary people have when they give their lives to God.
