Super high quality light.
Started a new aquarium earlier this year. Didnt want to buy a kit that comes with everything. I wanted specilal filters and lights. I did a lot of online research before deciding on this light. It is a very high quality full spectrum led light. I has a ton of features , including a DIY timer and light intensity settings. Therre is no way that I can say in this review , just what all can be done with this light automatically. I have a moderately planted 29 gallon tank. I am more interested in the plants than the fish. But I do like and have both. I set the timer to come on at 8am. It comes on in a sunrise ,ode for one hour and yhen goes into the full light for the next 8 hours , then rampms down to a sunset mode for the next hour , then completely off for the night. Tis light is completely adjustable as far as the light in tensity and the on off time you desire. You can set the intensity on the white , blue , green and reds as you so please. This light was very well thought out when it was designed. I absolutely love it and HIGHLY recommend it.

Great Light, Only Some Complaints
This is an amazing light. Programing it is kind of a pain, but not enough to remove a star. It has all the colors and my plants are looking amazing. It's a great value for your money. I only wish that the risers were included. Having the light sit so low doesn't allow for great light exposure when you have a large tank.

Confusing "custom settings", but good light
Short part first. The light is nice and bright, good LED density for the cost. Nice variety of programable colors. Has a built in clock you can program around. Overall I'm very pleased with this light for the cost and have purchased several. Cons: This lamp has one of the same issues all of these white label and generic designs do... The cheap collapsible legs. They fall out, they don't fit tightly, and often it can droop a big if close to maximum fit. Programming the "custom" settings for lighting is the only way to get the best features out of this light. The way you program it is quite confusing and convoluted. This is the ONLY smart lamp I have that I need to keep the instructions for. There is no way to know how to navigate the features without it. You even need the specific instructions for setting lighting color codes. Power plug... All of these lights are the same, they have a cord hanging down that has a plug in for the power adapter. I'm not sure why this design seems to be the standard, but the connection point is just far enough from the light that it always seems to hang at some weird inaccessible angle. if you try to correct this, you normally have to just zip tie the wires high up and waste a lot of the length.

Let’s come up with a conclusion
This is a great light and works very well on a planted aquarium. So far, I'm very happy with its performance. My only concern is the controller—my previous Hygger light's controller eventually failed. I'm hoping they've improved its durability this time around. I'm giving Hygger another chance because the light itself performs great. If this one holds up, I'll definitely be buying more of their products in the future.

Hygger 999
Currently using only the 999 model. Have 5 - 36" models, 1 -30" model. Also recently ordered 2 more 30" models and 1 - 48" model due to how well the others have worked. Original 30" and 36" lights have been running daily for just shy of a year with no issues and plants are flourishing. When i ordered the last 3 - 36" lights for my 40 breeders and a 60 gal. one arrived and would not power up, shot a video of concern and notified customer support, a new power pack (plug) was sent out next day. Unfortunately it took longer than it should have imo to receive and delayed the tank getting set up with the others. When setting up i highly advise, depending on what plants your growing and your tank depth of course setting the light at no more than 40% (low light, no Co2) and trying it for a couple weeks. Instead of blasting your tank with full light which will undoubtedly cause an algae outbreak. I currently use them on a 29 gal(30% diy mode), 2 - 40(30% 24/7 mode with 1/2 hr 25% green night light) gal breeders, 60 gal(40% 24/7 mode same as 40 breeders) and on a 135 gal(diy mode) only the 135gal is at 50% with low light plants. (no floating plants for shade in any tank) These lights are strong. All tanks set at 10 hours after being at 8 hours for a month. Growing Jungle Val, Rotala rotundafolia, Bacopa, Ludwigia red, java moss, guppy grass, Anubias.

Amazingly Cool Light!
Yes, programing can be tedious. Take your time, be patient with the directions and yourself. If you choose mode 53 (DIY), make sure you turn OFF the other two modes. Being able to ramp up and down the intensity (& color) on a schedule is a feature i've wanted for years. I went for a gentle warm white fade up in the morning, then a couple of hours a bright white mid-day, and a progressively more red shift as the fadeout works into the evening, finishing the cycle with a couple of hours of 10% blue-only before going off completely just before midnight. The quantity & quality of light is truly amazing for fresh water. I haven't had a salt tank in years, I can't really speak to its blue output being appropriate to make a salt tank have that gorgeous blue/uv pop!. This IS a wonderfully flexible fixture for the cost. We shall see how well its holds up longterm. The only two 'Cons' I see so far, the shortest of hiccup in the power will clear the clock setting, it holds the programing, but not the time. Makes me ponder putting a very small computer style UPs on the aquarium. Lastly, the brackets holding the light over the tank make me a tiny bit uneasy, if younger children interact with tank, or if you live in an earthquake prone area, in just my opinion, its possible the fixture could end up falling into the tank. Perhaps its not meant to be used on an open-top tank, that said, I may put a piece of plate glass under the light. Both of these topics are mentioned in the instructions. In short, for the money, its such an amazing light! ..even for uses beyond an aquarium. I am very pleased with the purchase.

Excellent Light for My Freshwater Tank!
I’m really impressed with the hygger Auto On Off LED Aquarium Light! It’s an incredible upgrade for my 12-18" freshwater planted tank. The light is full spectrum with WRGB lamp beads that simulate natural daylight perfectly. The colors are vibrant, and it really makes my water plants look more alive and lush. It’s amazing how the light brings out the true colors of my plants, making them pop in a way that I never expected. The programmable features are awesome, especially the 24/7 lighting cycle. I love that I can set the light to automatically adjust throughout the day, simulating natural light patterns. The night mode is a nice touch too—setting the light to a softer color like red or blue for the evening is perfect for creating a calm atmosphere. The LCD monitor on the controller is super convenient; I can easily see the current time, brightness, and settings at a glance, and it makes programming a breeze. As for build quality, this light is solid! The IP68 waterproof rating gives me confidence that it’s safe from water splashes, and I don’t have to worry about humidity affecting it. The aluminum shell is also great for heat dissipation, and I’ve noticed no overheating even after long hours of use. This light comes with everything you need, including adjustable metal brackets for easy mounting and a handy user manual. It’s been running for weeks without any issues, and I love how energy-efficient it is. If you’re looking for a high-quality, customizable aquarium light that’s easy to install and maintain, this is definitely the one to get. Highly recommended!

Very Nice, But Very Hard to Program
I bought this 6 months ago, but only got it programmed today. I tried twice before to follow the manual. Word for word, I analyzed the directions. The first time I had too many distractions. Second time I got very frustrated and had to stop before I started screaming. For months, I had a very undesirable program and I reverted to the bulb switch, but then it started turning itself back on during the night. Then I unplugged and replugged the damn thing everyday. Here’s what I did and suggest. 1. I found 1 brief YouTube Video by Bob Moss which helped some. (IT would be nice if Hygger made a video-hint-hint). 2. Secondly, I realized the terms 51 for “Day” and 52 for “Night” are misleading. 51 will program 24 hours and allow for one level of white light that you set between 10%-100%. 52 Mode is for the blue lights only, sort of like a night light. THe program for this appears in the 2nd rectangle. Mode 53 is the Ultimate Programming that I’m not ready to tackle yet. The manual should, but doesn’t tell you what these Modes are for; only how to set them. 3. Under how to set the 51 Day mode, Once you press the M CONTINUE TO HOLD IT DOWN TIL IT READS 51 AND THE DAY-L-ON OFF FLASHES. 4. I internet searched for a few questions that were not found in the manual, such as: 1. what happens to programming if you have a power failure 2. How do you get it back on program after using the bulb button? Since I just got mine programmed, I can’t say how well it will work. I expect good results based on reviews, If it doesn’t, I’ll write again. I hope this will help with your programming.
