How well does this router manage buffer bloat?

I'd say pretty well. You. Can divide the network up into 3 networks. We've had 3 TVs streaming movies and shows plus phones and tablets running without buffering. We also have gigabit internet speed too so that helps. Our old router we did have some buffering, which is why I changed routers.

Does this model support vpn client (not server, client)?

No. The Archer GX90 supports VPN Server via OpenVPN and PPTP.
