Does it seem of good quality, or just some more cheap plastic?

Seems good quality. I was pleasantly surprised that the basket has a weight attached to the bottom to keep it in place. The handle seems study too.

How do you remove the weight?

I did not design this product, but my best guess is that the weight was molded into the product so it would not, could not come loose from the bottom of this basket. If the weight feature of this pool skimmer basket were removed a gaping hole in the basket bottom would result and debris in pool water could not be captured. The weight is designed to prevent the basket from floating up and unseating itself from the round skimmer opening, thereby ensuring it remains in position to capture pool water debris before it can be sucked into the pool filter. Hope this helps.

Can anybody tell me if the handle of the skimmer basket is removable since I like to use skimmer socks for the basket?

Yes the handle is removable from the basket.

Options of buying is a 1-pack. Is that just 1 or does a “pack” mean 2?

It is just 1 basket. I've had it for a few months and its pretty solid. I would buy it again if my current one ever wore out.
