It works on the nex 5t with limited capabilities. You have to fiddle around with the settings a bit. I have a sunpak rd2000 attached to it. Again this is a "workaround" to be able to put an external flash on your Sony nex camera that doesn't have a hotshoe built in so it's good for the price. it works and attaches securely with the a screw driver should be strong enough to hold a big external flash like the neewer tt560. Again just need to mess around with the settings a bit to make it work. I'm currently in the process of tweaking. So far this is how I got it to work:Only works in manual mode or S priority mode. Attach original sony flash, set to fill flash, remove flash, attach hotshoe securely, attach external flash. Mine works best under under 1/500 shutter speed. Anything above that u get the blacks in the picture. Adjust accordingly and lower the shutter speed. Also image will be bright so u can't have the ISO too high. As far as the lcd view finder turning black, you have to turn off LIVE VIEW DISPLAY. Sometimes when detaching and reattach in the flash doesn't fire and I'm still trying to fig out the cause. This adapter shoe is well made and performs well. I use it in conjunction with the Polaroid macro ring light. My only complaint is that the screw head is not cut for a coin. It's a straight slot, so you need to have a screwdriver handy to tighten it securely and remove it. Finger pressure on the exposed, knurled edge of the screw head is not sufficient to tighten it firmly.

Doesnt work. Sure it will trigger a flash, but you cant actually use it because the screen will be black when it comes time to focus because the camera wont recognize the flash and cant compensate for it. It will always overexpose it if you can see you subject on the screen. So, completely worthless, dont buy.

Mounted this and a Neewer TT560 Speedlite flash to my Sony NEX-5 and it works great. No problems from what I can tell. Strong mount to the camera. Will probably buy a wireless triggering system though because a giant flash on a tiny camera looks ridiculous and the weight balance is weird but that's nothing to do with the Hot Shoe adapter. Would recommend anyone with a NEX camera to buy because the flash support for the NEX cameras is quite horrendous.

I needed to add a ring flash to my old SONY NEX-3. the good - this does the job, enables the full functionality of the ring flash. The bad - sometimes it looses signals and I need to fidget with it;((

I bought this just to use for my Rode MicGo, the shoe fits (literally) and I'm incredibly happy with it. I did black out the logo though, I thought it was a bit austentatious.

Every NEX user should have a hot shoe adapter. Only set back is that this device is plastic and will wear down after a year of use. Depending on how big of a flash you use.
