Worked great
I recently purchased these and they worked great for me and are very easy to use and easy to release the mouse and have a sufficient number of air holes. I wash them with liquid antibacterial soap and you should always wash between trappings to get rid of the scent of the mouse that was trapped before reusing......this is why I purchased two 2-pks.I would not use anything strong to clean like bleach because it may leave an odor that would deter the mouse from using the trap. For "my" particular case, it seems that around 12:00 midnight and thereafter is a good time to catch mice............I caught 2 so far on different nights around this time (did not set traps "every" night because I knew I would not be able to release the mouse promptly on those nights I did not set the traps). However, I caught none in the daytime. Being the animal lover that I am, I try to use them when I know I will still be up so that the animal does not have to stay caught all night until I get up in the morning..........I will release it as soon as it is trapped. You can hear the trap go off if you are near it but it does not make a "real" loud noise. For those who care about the mouse, PETA says never to release a mouse any father away from one's home than 100 yards because the animal will not be able to find food and will die and that defeats the whole purpose of using a "humane" trap. I live in a big city and in a row home and release it up another alley away from my house.....I throw a slice of bread some feet ahead of the mouse before I release it to run in that direction.....they WILL eat bread. I feel one should release it near an area where it can find food and water. Mice are very family oriented so I hope they will find each other where i release them. This trap has sufficient air holes for the mouse to breathe. At the end where you release the mouse, that part does "not" tightly seal meaning there is a little sliver of space to allow in more air which is fine because the mouse cannot get through that space. Both times I have caught mice I have used Skippy smooth peanut butter.......just a little dab (about pea size) is all you should use AND you should always place it near the closed end of the trap so that the mouse has to go farther into the trap to get to it so the door behind it does not snap onto and catch it's tail when it closes as the mouse steps on the trigger plate. I have read that mice like sweets (and they DID get into some Mounds coconut candy and chocolate covered raisins I had......though they left the raisins after eating the chocolate coating) if you don't have peanut butter, but a lot of online sites say to use peanut butter..........you can try both peanut butter and sweets like a pea-sized piece of candy or cookie to see which works best.........you don't want to put too large of a piece of food so that the mouse can bite off a bit without triggering the trapping mechanism.

They work and they work fairly well.
So one thing to note is that you do need to observe for a while to see if there are any areas the pest(s) frequent(s). After that, you want some bait (I used peanut butter) in the trap and place the trap near those frequented areas. You can wear gloves when you handle the trap to try to make it work better. Just be warned that in some states, you are not allowed to release the pest into the wild OR keep the pest so you will have to kill the pest. Also be aware to not leave these traps out if you are expecting to be away for several days - the pest will die in the trap and it will stink. Unfortunately, sometimes you don't have a choice (such as evacuation orders or other emergencies), but be aware of that issue.

Discovered how to catch tiny, light weight mice with 100% success
OK, time to clear the air...Wife purchased these as after buying a new couch/love seat, and a couple days later I noticed 1 tiny mouse running in living room. We have lived here in Phoenix area for 25 years and never once has our home been invaded (plus we had 6 dogs, 2 cats), until "THAT" night!Being the husband I am, after our traps arrived, my wife showed me how they were suppose to work, which I like since I am a "NO KILL" type guy.Next morning, I checked the one behind couch and the one on garage. I could see most of the peanut butter was eaten but trap was still set.SO, I came back on line and read the reviews. I noticed a lot of negative reviews when it comes to tiny, smooth haired mice, not the furry kind found in fields. Not enough weight to trip the trap... so I started thinking on how to increase the weight so it would trip. Hence, quick drive to Home Depot, Hardware department, and I bought 4 washers the size of quarters. When I got home, I just taped all the washers up and set them at the back of trap. It kept tripping it, so I removed 1 washer and tried again. This time, it stayed...so then I smeared some peanut butter on top of washers and set the trap!Next morning, we had our 1st tiny mouse (about the size of a tablespoon). SUCCESS finally!! Well, of to the nearest safe field and we let him go...That night, we set both traps, one in the garage and one behind couch.Next morning, we had 2 mice. One was tablespoon size and one was teaspoon size, yet with the washers, both traps worked well for those little fellers! Off to the filed...Well, we were shocked but figured we got the family...but decided another nights worth just to be sure. Next morning, we had another teaspoon sized one (2 adults and 2 kids judging from their sizes)...off to the field.2 night's ago, wife set it up in garage and sure enough, food was gone but no mouse...she had forgotten the washers...so we thought about it again and last night, she put a healthy sized chunk of peanut butter on the very end, no washers. This morning, trap had not sprung and PB was 1/2 eaten..so tonight we will place the washers back on and catch the last of this family, we hope. The traps work as promised - takes a little ingenuity to get the right weight for it to spring on little mice but we did it with some washers and with a 100% success...

release door will NOT open to let mouse out!
1st set of 2 were great. These I just opened (Feb 2018) and they suck! Cannot get the "release / escape door" open once the mouse is in! Who wants to open THEIR door and have it run over you or bite you? Unless I hear back from the seller to guarantee the next set is working correctly, clearly I will never buy these again, nor should you!

My second order! And learned something new!
First of all since I am into aesthetics; this is a very nicely designed and made product, including the color. Better than that, it works and the mice are none the worse for it :) It took my second order to casually glance at the instructions out of curiosity only to find I have been releasing them too close to our house, about 500 feet and across a stream, which I thought was plenty far. Nope. Should be at least 2-3 MILES! Can I have been catching and releasing the same mice?! Argh! Needless to say, I hopped back onto Amazon and ordered a portable critter carrier to comfortaby house them until I can drive them to their new home far away from home.
