I was excited to get this little lightbox. I do like how easy to use it is. The idea is ingenious. However, even when used solely for jewelry photography, it is too tiny. It is pretty much impossible to photograph a medium sized necklace in it. The lights, which were such a strong selling point to me, provide almost no light. The background papers are made of some awful material that attracts dust like a magnet, so you have to keep a roll of tape at hand and continually wipe off the pet hairs, specks and threads that float through the air. It is more frustrating than helpful. I guess I will stick with my homemade, ciumbersome but more effective light box.

I purchased this to take photos of small items to use on eBay and it works relatively well.This is VERY flimsy. It just magnets closed on the sides and if you touch it wrong it will and does collapse which is annoying. The backdrop foam is also difficult to install on the little tabs that are supposed to hold it but they stay relatively well. This does not include a wall adapter so you will either need to plug this into your computer or get a wall adapter. I used the USB adapter for my Kindle and it works fine.This is also VERY small. It is most certainly a mini. You can't put anything more than about the size of CD case in there without having the edges of the backdrop interfere with the picture, but for small items it is great.However, what makes this four stars is that it really does produce great pictures. The lights are very bright and ensure you have no shadows on the items. It's great to have the option of either a black or white background, though I do use white most of the time. And, the backdrop does clean up well - I got a smudge on it and cleaned it up with a Clorox wipe with no lasting problems.Overall, while this is flimsy it does work amazingly well if you're using it for small items and I definitely recommend it for that.

I was hopeful that this might be a great option for easily lit product shots. Unfortunately it's a cheaply made piece of plastic that is supposed to hold together by MAGNETS on the side. Let's just say it doesn't at all. The magnets slide right over one another without holding. Mine also came with a rip in part of it and a dent in the back side. It's incredibly small. I did not bother to plug it in because I knew right away I would be returning it, so I can't say much about the light.I have used real fabric lightboxes and they are absolutely worth the bit of extra money for the jump in quality. I will be getting myself a better lightbox pronto. Don't waste your time on this one.

Can’t complain much because the price was affordable but seriously, the magnets on this thing barely hold up the walls straight, let alone stay together if they are barely grazed by anything, meaning the walls will literally just fall apart.The light source is probably the best part about it, but the cable this comes with is super short so you have to literally be right next to a power source (the outlet should be on your right side because having it on the left pulls the cable and makes the magnets come apart... like I mentioned, they’re not that stable!)Also, although they include the white and black backgrounds, no matter what you do, there are always little dark holes in the bottom corners where the frame doesn’t cover and even if they’re small, it’s super annoying! I literally had to take folded tissue paper in the color of my choice to cover the bottom, which would cover the background enough so those holes aren’t apparent, creating more of a seamless white background.It took a lot of trial and error to make this work for what I needed it for, but I made it happen. If you’re not patient, or into DIY creative thinking, then spend more money and get what it is that you really need!

We purchased this light box 2 years ago and LOVED it. The light strip wore out, so ordering another one was a no-brainer. It arrived quickly. Unfortunately, when we opened the package it seemed that we had been sent a used box. The white background looked..."used" is the only way to describe it. It wasn't new looking and there were marks on it where it looked like something heavy had made indentations in the material. In addition, the magnets that hold the box together were not working, so when you tried to pop it together, the box just collapsed onto itself because the sides wouldn't stay together. We requested a replacement and once again, it quickly arrived. Unfortunately the same thing happened with the new one. The magnets wouldn't hold the sides of the box together so it just collapses on itself. We didn't feel like going through the hassle of boxing it up and driving it to UPS again so we grabbed some heavy duty shipping tape and literally taped the sides together. It works fine now, but we can't fold it up and store it away because we don't wanna deal with the hassle of having to re-tape it every time we need it. Sad. We really loved the old one...but this new one, literally doesn't hold up.

This is a nice idea, but it could use a simple, cheap aftermarket improvement. The thing comes all folded up, and you have to unfold it and align the side flaps together to hold it in box-shape. They have installed magnets in the box flaps, which sort of hold things together, but they are very weak and come apart it you sneeze at the thing. I found that a simple small spring binder clip placed right where the 3 flaps come together (on each side) will dramatically strengthen this assembly. The whole thing comes in a padded envelope, and the two binder clips also serve to hold the envelope closed when you pack the assembly away for storage. 2 binder clips are about $.50 at any big box store or office supply outlet, and they really enhance the usability of this studio. So simple, but so effective. Isn't that usually the way of things?
