Great kit for starters. Needs tracer.
I will advice that you may want to buy a tracer. We didn't realize the kit did not come with one and were a bit caught off-guard. The selection is great for our purposes and the case is nice and sturdy--no need to explain how we discovered this :). Our 10 year old has found a way to test every item to see what it does while watching youtube videos and overall he was excited and ready to use everything. The other boys felt a little overwhelmed, but it's perfect for a starter kit. We were immensely satisfied with quality and overall contents.

This kit is PERFECT if you have the same reservations as I did
Just getting into leather working and a friend said NOT to get this so naturally, I got it to spite him. I don't know if this is a hobby that I am going to stick with so I do not want to dump $300 at Tandy and have it sit around. This kit is PERFECT if you have the same reservations as I did. So far? It all works great and you get a little bit of everything in this kit to hit the ground running. Nothing has failed on me yet and as someone that has worked with various tools his entire life, These are NOT BAD. are they Home depot? No, But their not Harbor Freight either. I would say that this kit is like..... Ryobi to Bosch....I would highly recommend if you want to test the waters of a new hobby without dumping a crap ton of money.

Great set for beginners and intermediate craftsmen. Amazing quality for an amazing price!
The set over all is amazing. The diamond punches are fantastic and have tested very well with my constant use over the course of the last few months; sharp accurate tips, standard steel, with just a bit of manufacturing oil that comes with any good punch set (just wipe them off y’all).Great stamp set, amazing waxed thread (my new favorite actually), sturdy burnishers, a good variety of standard tough needles that don’t break when you use pliers on them... most of the tools are really good quality and you’d usually pay easily $20 per tool. That being said, the snips aren’t aligned well (one side even pops out on mine) so they don’t cut smoothly or accurately, and what they’re passing off for a sewing awl is sad and constructed poorly with a bad cullet that barely holds onto needles (though the needles that come with it are great).Just buy a decent craft knife (we’re talking about $5 at Lowes) and a separate sewing awl (more like $20-$35 for a good one on Amazon) and you’re good to go when it comes to leather working hand tools.Fantastic starter kit and great base tools for even an intermediate craftsman! And at that price, I can’t really complain about anything.

Great Value to the new leather worker
Very happy with this starter leather working set. It has almost everything you need to get started. I will be purchasing a dedicated edge beveler, "line groover" ( not sure what the dedicated terminology is) , and a v-gouge.I crafted my first 2 sheaths with this set, plus one basket weave stamp tool from Hobby Lobby. I should add, i did purchase some high end pricking irons from Japan, and couldn't be more pleased with their performance. the pricking irons in this set are suitable, but do yourself a favor and go to Goodsjapan.com and get some legit pricking irons if you are serious about leather work.

Chinese manufacturing technology - waste of money.
I guess you get what you pay for. Was working on making my first wallet, used some thin chrome tanned leather (I know, not the best), and decided to punch some holes using the rake looking hole punch. After making a line of holes, I then realized the holes were all black and smudged. What???? Turns out this punch after it was produced, was not cleaned of the grease and oil in between the tines. So the grease deposited itself in every hole. Great. Recommend you punch holes in some wood or foam, and then maybe scrub this item clean before using. Also, from what I found, there are not two identical needles for stitching. That makes no sense. I had to use two different needles, one with a giant head that was difficult to use. Not much thought went into assembling this kit. There are some useful items, like the waxed thread, and the awl. But not much else, maybe the grooving tool, haven't had a chance to try that. But next time, I will purchase each tool from a hobby store, even if it costs more. Then at least I should be able to return the item for replacement. So I recommend buying your tools one by one, not from a kit. This was truly a waste of money.

This is THE kit for beginners!
I had purchased another brand and was thoroughly disappointed. The needles broke right away, it was a really flimsy piece (simpzia 17 piece set) .This was far better, it's higher quality, a great kit for beginners and those more experienced. The case was also a nice part of it. I Highly recommend it.

Great for the money.
Great not just for beginners, but also for those looking for a deal but not necessarily doing large quantities every day.I haven't had time to use these as much as I would like, but they are decent quality and won't break the bank.

Good Set
I bought this set for son who makes and sells leather goods. He had several of the tools already, but said the ones in this set were better quality. One of the red clips on the tool case was missing, but their customer service immediately offered me a partial credit.
