Booster is the Strongest Engine of All.
Booster is a must as it provides strong battery operated power that surpasses other powered engines. Suggest you buy this one.

Great toy but designed wrong
The quality of the build is excellent. The problem is, the drive mechanism is in the rear unit (the oil tank) and not in the actual Engine (Thomas) so if you run it on the floor, the drive unit will eventually run circles around Thomas and disconnect. Even when it is on a wooden track (which these claim to be compatible with) it over takes the front unit eventually, pushing Thomas off the track. The drive unit should have been built into Thomas and the magnets should be more powerful to keep the cars together. I know why it is designed like this (it allows the manufacturer to use weaker magnets to keep the cars together). For the price, it should have been designed better. As for detail, it looks amazing, and my Grandson loves it.

disappointed :(
It's too top heavy to take the corners around the track. It just falls over when it hits a corner even on a completely flat surface. Totally disappointed!

Cute, but not very strong
My 4-year-old really wanted an electric train to push other trains in his Thomas set. We gave him this for Christmas, and it has been a little disappointing. Even with a fresh battery, it isn't that strong to go up hills very well, but after using it for just part of a day, it becomes weak and has a very hard time going up hills. My son still likes it, but he does get a little annoyed at it too.

So disappointed...
This car simply would not drive the curves. My husband is in electronics and was decently impressed with the motor. It didn't matter which tracks we tried, it always bound and stopped in the curves. I'm sooooooo glad we tested this before Christmas! What a heartbreak it would have been for our four-year-old to get his long awaited electric train--that wouldn't go!! The motor is well built. The engine has a lot of power. But it simply cannot drive without tracks and the engine and drive car are too long to go around the curves.Specs: This engine does have a magnet in front, but not behind the drive car. Thomas is solid wood. The drive car swivels at the front wheels giving it lots of play for curves (supposedly). The power is all in the all in the drive car which totally binds up on every brand of wooden track we could find. The button is on the top back of the drive car. If you could find tracks that worked ok with this engine, the only issues I can see are the tipping back people have described happening as you push the back button. And the fact that you can't connect cars to the back of the drive car... Not sure who thought of that.
