Pretty good brooder
I think what sold me on this is that is can be easily made to go lower or higher and it comes with the plastic sheets to protect the top from curious duck and chickens who decide to climb aboard the top and drop little poops up there. This warms up great and my ducklings loved to hang out underneath it. As they got bigger, I could move it higher easily. My one and only complaint is that it is hard to get the legs all to be even so it was always wobbly. My ducks didn't really have any interest in climbing on top though so it was never an issue but I could see this being an issue if you have chicks. Regardless, it was an absolutely fabulous brooder that "grew" with my ducks and I was able to use it until they started getting their adult feathers and they didn't need supplemental heat anymore. Recommend!

Works well
The chicks like it, no complaints. It comes with a few thin clear plastic sheets to cover the top of the heater so when the birds get on top it’s easier to clean. I just wash and reuse. It gets pretty warm under there. About once a week I adjust it as needed for their size. You just turn the legs to the right height and easy to level. I’m currently using puppy pads so it works well with those. I’m leary of using heat devices but the heat lamp scares me so I had to find an alternative. Not a bad product, I would buy again.

Great brooder plate
I’ve been using this brooder plate for about 4 weeks now. It stays warm, provides ambient heat, but also isn’t too hot. I switched to this from a heat lamp and it feels so much safer. I have about 23 bobwhite quail still using it and they love it. It comes with extra plastic sheets to cover the top of the plate for easy clean up. I actually just bought a second one I loved it so much. For the price- it’s definitely worth it compared to other products.

It's okay
The legs are hard to screw in. Makes it difficult and annoying when trying to adjust height. Works. Not as warm as a heat lamp. Easy to clean. I like that it's not a bright light so chicks can sleep without a light constantly on. Just wish the legs were easier to adjust

Chicks love it!
We really are happy and feel this is a safe and efficient use of electricity. They are happy and quiet under it! When they hatch make it super low do it touches their backs when the scurry under.

Ouch! Needs Improvement
I want to love this but it was absolutely awful to put together. The directions say it’s convenient but it is far from it. Took me at least 30 minutes to screw the legs on because it was tight and feels like I have blisters on my fingers already. If you’re going to try to screw them you need gloves so it doesn’t tear your skin or make it sore. It also was missing a cap on one of the legs. First one didn’t even get delivered to me so they sent another. If it wasn’t for the awful legs, how tall they are with no option to make it smaller (can’t close the lid to our brooder) I would have liked it. Anyways, not a good experience, not worth the time, not even sending it back because I’ve already spent so much time with it. Definitely needs improvement. I like the size of it but I am frustrated. 👎🏽

not well made, difficult to adjust the height
Not sure if ours was just defective but it was difficult to screw in the legs and they wouldn't adjust easily, I felt like I just was spinning with no movement. Ended up having to just add shavings underneath to make it work for the chicks. Wouldn't recommend it.....

It's just OK quality
It arrived in a timely fashion and was very well packaged for shipping. The legs are a simple screw to the plate system. However it is very wobbly. Not very sturdy. It never fell over and I never worried about it harming the chicks in that manner. In order to protect the bottom of the heating plate that is exposed to the chicks it comes with plastic films that you can change out for easy cleaning. Not a bad idea...however...the sheets are SO FLIMSY . Once you install the protective film, they sag. I had to use painters tape to hold in position. It did the job ok. I still had to add a heating light into the pen for extra warmth. The chicks seem to like it. They seem comfortable enough under it. It is nice when they feel threatened they can run under it.For the money, I guess it's OK. I do wish I would of spent more for a better quality unit.

Stopped working after 3 months
I purchased this heat mat in Oct 22 but didn't start using it until the end of August 23. Worked well for my first lot of chicks but died on day 3 with my second lot. Can't contact the seller because it's past 3 months. Not happy because I purchased a more expensive heat mat hoping it would last a long time......

Fiddly and broke on second use
The screw in legs are frustrating and take a while to fit, but on second use it just stopped working. No light to indicate if on or faulty, so make sure you check on chicks regularly in case it fails. Very disappointed.
