Simple and Exceptional
58 y/o playing sports all the time adds to someone always sore and always with stiff parts. Not to mention my extremely tight hamstrings. I receive at least one massage a week many times more. This machine is a good addition to my body wellness.I recently purchased one after taking a bike fall and my back has remained "bound up". This machine has done wonders! I played a tennis tournament this weekend and was very sore/stiff. I hopped on this daily and felt much better. I've been using it one week and can already tell a difference.Do you really need this? No. But this machine makes the stretches quickly and with better pressure. Assembly was pretty easy even for a village idiot like me.I recommend this machine for those needing a good stretch with limited time or interested in better instruction and technique.

Price + Quality = Constant
I really wanted this to work out well. I was not flexible as a young person so now I am older, I am really inflexible. I've focused on stretching for many years now. At some of the gyms I frequent, there is the Precor equivalent of this machine and I've considered buying that one, but the price always stopped me. So when I saw this machine on a Black Friday Special, I jumped at the chance to buy it.I will say this - the stretches work well, although about half of those illustrated have nothing to do with the machine and are do-able without the machine. I am 5' 9", and I think some taller folks might have issues with the positioning of the seat. I echo the comments that the seat padding is a little flimsy compared to the Precor and overall, it is not as sturdy or stable. But then again, you get what you pay for sometimes. My real issue - the two star issue - is that the item was wobbly. There is a little support piece welded where the two main beams join to form a 'T' in front and it was not properly centered. As a result, the unit does not sit on the floor with all 4 legs touching the ground. It's possible that this was corrected as both machines I tried (before returning them) had the same problem and their serial numbers were only 50 apart. When I called the manufacturer, they wanted pictures proving that this occurred and proof that my floor was level. I had tested this machine in three different floors at my house, so I was on pretty solid ground (pun intended, sorry) . As I had already spent hours assembling, tearing down, reassembling, calling customer service and troubleshooting two machines, I just said no, I'll return it to Amazon. Amazon was great with the returns - both times. Will probably try the expensive Precor at this point, because I like the idea of getting the good stretch every day.

Good purchase
This is much more affordable than the ones that you see at the gym, and it works just as well. I find it most useful for stretching out my back, but you can also stretch hamstrings etc. It allows me to get a deeper stretch than if I was just on the ground doing stretches without a machine. It is sturdy and is fairly easy to build. Just follow the directions and you will be fine.

Almost like the Precor
This stretches my back and legs very much like the Precor, but there is one major difference I've noted: the handlebar. The handlebar has some give to it and it feels flimsy, but it's actually sturdy despite it's give. I'd rather have a solid handlebar, and I'm not sure what utility there is in the give.I'm 5'3" and my mother is 5'0" and neither of us have had any problems using this device. She has back and shoulder problems which have been helped significantly through stretching. It's helped me be more diligent with stretching after my long runs. The LifeSpan machine comes with an instruction booklet that's divided based on the body target you wish to stretch. All the stretches come with pictures and text instructions.Assembly was easy, but you want to assemble it wherever you plan on placing it because it gets heavy once it's altogether.

it seemed like a good option
I purchased this to save a few hundred dollars over the Precor (which I've used at our local rec center), and based upon reviews, it seemed like a good option. And how!First, I was able to put this together myself - there was mention of no instructions for the wrist straps on one of the reviews. I'm not sure if they had some old instructions, but there were distinct details on the attachment in the instructions. I felt they were easy to follow, and guided me step-by-step.I've never felt like I was falling backwards (even with the "give" on the handle section), but I've used the Precor for years. The stretch is as good as any I experienced with the other machine. I'm 5'7" and have no issues with the size. NOTE: if you are a bit thick (or more!) around the middle, you will probably feel some squishing, which might not be pleasant...after all, you are being folded in 1/2 on some of the stretches. This is an AWESOME stretching machine, and I'm really glad that I rolled with the LifeSpan.

The other brand of this similar item is much better.
I was trying to save a little money by getting this less expensive version of this stretching machine. I got what I paid for. My dad has the $800, better stretcher. His feels much more stable. The LifeSpan does NOT have a fixed pole where the handle is. Instead, it is a two-piece pole with a hinge in the middle and it flexes on a rubber stopper. As you start to lean back to do the various stretching exercises, the handle bar bounces a little and give you the sensation that you're going to fall backward. I hate it. And I don't see the purpose of the movement. I much prefer the solid, stable handlebar pole on the other brand. After putting it all together and tossing out the box, I'm too lazy to return it. So, it will sit in my garage until I find someone who wants it. Bummer.

Oldie But Goodie
I'm 68 years old and have engaged in various sports since childhood. Age takes its toll. This Stretch Partner has reignited flexibility in my muscles that hasn't been there for years! It's extremely easy to use, comfortable and fun. My 49 year old wife....(soon to be 68)....loves it too! We have it in our home "mini-gym" and it's become a real favorite. We've recommended it already to several friends.

Amazing choice for stretching
It’s only been a few days and I am already gaining back a sense of flexibility my fibromyalgic body struggles with maintaining. I even just sit on it to do a simple stretch and that improves my life enough already.

Not worth the money
The unit is not very stable for larger people In fact I think it has limitations that make it unsafe. . Many of the stretches can be performed without this unit. Based on the cost of the unit and the actually number of stretches that the unit is needed for it does not make financial sense. The unit is too expensive for what it offers b
