These orchid food plant spikes have encouraged all of my orchids to flower and look healthy. Very easy to use. Each spike is about 1.5 inches long, and when cut in half with a scissor provides food for two different areas in the orchid pot. Works best with a moss potting medium vs. bark. I had doubts about using a solid food product to fertilize plants, but this gets the job done. But the plant still needs appropriate light/water to flower! Very convenient. This is my second pack.

I prefer Miracle Gro potting mixes for my plants because it is always a good product and gives me good results. I needed some coarse orchid mix this time because the medium coarseness comes out of the holes in the pots. What I did NOT expect was getting ROCKS in tha bag. While I admit that rocks would be more of a coarse product, I certainly don’t expect to PAY for rocks. I can get them out of my driveway, thank you very much. I took off one star for it. I’ve only used a small portion of the bag but wonder how many I will find in the bottom when I get there.

This stuff makes such a difference for encouraging orchids to flower. I typically add a very small dose to the water I use to water the orchids every week and I consistently get the orchids to flower. I had the same orchids for over two years and they never flowered regularly. Now they do flower regularly.

I didn’t feel like going to the store because I always come out with more plants I don’t need. I had two orchids to repot and several other plants.Like others mentioned, it’s hardly bark like you see when you buy an orchid plant. I wish I knew the brands that nurseries used. Lots of the pieces were just chunks of wood. I used it with my monsteras too, so I didn’t mind for those plants. It was more much like than actual bark chips.So far it’s been fine but I’ll see if my plants end up dying and will update should anything happen!
