These do what they are supposed to do but the picture of them is misleading. I've attached a picture of the same number in my hand. Not quite the same as the picture in the description unless that person holding them is 4 years old. I ordered 3 bags hoping for about 1 cubic foot of material. The package contains 100 units which is about 4 cups. For my 1 cubic foot of material, I will need 30 packages, not 3.

These pieces are about 1 inch in diameter and about 1/2 inch thick. They are bigger then I thought. They sink. They should float to interact with the air for proper bacteria growth. Do not buy these.

Works great in a million different ways - could be a better value but definitely love how well these plastic rings do when they're in motion
