The Uniball One Gel pens are a high quality pen at a reasonable price that because of the quick dry pigment based ink do not smear or smudge, even when touched quickly after writing. The 5 pack comes with 5 different colors. The ink stays on top of the page and does not bleed through at all, even on a Bible page, which is much thinner than most other media. This allows the pens to be used (different colors) for taking notes in a Bible without degrading the underlying page or making it harder to read. They have a good grip, feel good in the hand, and come in a large variety of colors. They write smoothly and perform well.

I recently tried this Uni-ball gel pen and it has quickly become one of my go-to writing tools. Here’s how it stacks up. ✅ What I liked • Smooth, reliable ink flow: The ink lays down dark, crisp lines with very little effort. One review: “great choice if you’re looking for a super smooth writing experience… but the smudging issue holds back perfection.”  • Good value: For the performance I got, I felt the price was reasonable. It’s nice when a pen does more than the basics. ⚠️ Areas that could be better • Paper dependence: On cheaper or very slick paper, some users mention skipping or inconsistent flow. My favorite pens. Smooth writing, doesn’t leak or smear ink. I use for work and these do not hurt my hand ever ergonomically styled. Would recommend for someone who uses pens on a regular basis.

I do like these pens overall, but I've had an issue with ink skipping. The pens do still have a rich black color, and the ink dries faster than any other 0.7 pen I've used.

This is my new favorite pen. I use it for all of my household list and general correspondence. It is comfortable to use and has smooth ink delivery. That’s just what I need in a “go to” pen. The medium sized point leaves a bold stroke that doesn’t weep through the paper to the opposite side.

I recently purchased a Uni Jetstream to use as my primary writing pen for note-taking, and I was genuinely impressed by how smoothly and reliably it performed. It quickly became my go-to pen for classes because of its consistent ink flow and comfortable design. Based on that positive experience, I decided to upgrade my set of color pens to the Uni-ball lineup, expecting the same level of quality and performance. I chose the Uni One combo, thinking they would write as fluently as my Jetstream RT. Unfortunately, that has not been the case. Several of the pens fail to write immediately when I try to use them, often requiring multiple attempts or scribbling before the ink flows. This interruption is especially frustrating during lectures, when I need to take notes quickly and cannot afford to waste time coaxing the pen to work. While the colors themselves are beautiful and vibrant, the inconsistency in performance makes them unreliable for academic use. Having to repeatedly replace or restart a pen just to get it to write defeats the purpose of owning a Uni-ball product. I expected the same smooth, effortless writing experience that Uni-ball is known for, but instead I’ve been left disappointed. Overall, I feel let down by the Uni One pens. I had high expectations after using the Jetstream and the Kuru Toga mechanical pencil, both of which set a high standard for quality and reliability. Unfortunately, these pens have not lived up to that reputation. For anyone who needs dependable pens for fast-paced note-taking, I would not recommend them.

I will be honest and say that I have not written with this pen much as of late, as I recently switched to what I would consider this pens ballpoint counterpart, the Jetstream RT (you can check my review of that if you are interested in ballpoint pens). As for the Uni-Ball One Black Retractable Gel pen, I will start off by saying that I have primarily used Pilot G2 pens probably since they came out, and within the last few years added TUL. One of the biggest problems that I have with both the TUL and the G2 is the smudging. It just takes too long for the ink to soak in to the surface or dry. The Uni-Ball One Black does NOT have that problem. I am not sure of the exact science behind what they have done with their One-Ink, but it is quick to dry to most paper. Overall, this pen is just comfortable and feels solid in the hand. I like the size of the barrel, and the clip may look as though it will be flimsy, but it is constructed well. The price is very reasonable, and the color...if you want your ink to be the blackest of blacks, this is your pen! Once they get the color spectrum that TUL has, I will likely make the full switch to Uni-Ball. Keep up the great work!

After a lot of trial and error and I have spent $$$, ONE is the most reliable gel pen I used. Moreover, I ordered a lot of refills as the refills are mostly universal. It's smooth on many different papers and it has almost no skip and it's clean. Minimal smear with highlight marker. Passed rubbing alcohol test and it's safe to write on check. The satisfaction has my experiments paid off and I recommended to everybody I know.

I purchased these on recommendation from a friend, and looking at options for my child who is left handed. The ink flows really smoothly, making them good for lefties and doesn't smudge too much (though still a little). They're quickly becoming my favourite work pen also!
