Expensive, but worth it!
It took me a while of searching around on the web, but I finally managed to collect every expansion pack and add-on made for Firefly the Game. But then I ended up with dozens of boxes and what-not to transport around. When I came across this crate kit, I absolutely balked at the price and closed the page immediately. But, as time wore on, and I had to lug all those boxes around, I found myself coming back and reading more about it. It took a lot of "convincing myself" in my head, and honestly became a near impulse buy of the sort where you say, "Just do it before you change your mind!"However, post-purchase, I haven't regretted it for a second. I took my time picking the exact color I wanted for the stain, and lacquer, and then getting the wood all stained up and looking nice. Assembly took a couple days (to let glue dry between steps), but it could be assembled by a very motivated person in a day (taking up most of that day). And finally lacquered post-assembly. The crate turned out beautifully. I purposely distressed it a little, to make it look like an actual shipping crate that has seen some use.Assembly can take some time and patience. And you'll want to fit all the pieces together before gluing, to make sure you're assembling everything the correct way. You don't have to be a master finishing carpenter to make this, but being a little handy would help. I would however recommend some large and medium bar clamps. You'll want good tight fits on all the joints, since the inner parts have to slide into the finished outer part upon completion. (Don't tighten the clamps directly onto this wood, it can scar the wood. Use sacrificial pieces of wood between this and the clamps.)The interior dividers are not just convenient for keeping your cards contained between games, but they are useful WHILE PLAYING. They keep the countless decks (and their discard piles) organized and easy to find and access. When I figured out that this kit isn't just about storage, but actually makes game play easier on the players/banker, I was blown away. Such a clever design and usage! The advertisement says the trays can still accept the cards if they're sleeved. And that's essentially true. However, considering how much time/effort/money I spent finding all of the parts and pieces to complete the entire game, not to mention the quality and artwork that was put into the game, I'm very protective of it. And I recognize that not everyone I invite to play will have that same level of concern for my cards. So they will inevitably be held by fingers greasy from snacks, or have a drink knocked over on the table; but I'd like to be able to relax and just enjoy playing the game. Which is why I double-sleeved all of my cards. So they are protected on every surface and edge. (For those that want to do the same thing, I used: ProSupport Inner Sleeves, and TitanShield double textured for the outer sleeve.) However, that did add so much thickness that my decks were now too big to fit into their respective slots (clarification: It's not to say that a single card was too wide, no, the cards still fit in the compartments, it was that the whole deck was now too tall to completely fit into the assigned compartments). So some decks are now split in two, with the second half sitting in the "discard" area for that card. When we play the game, I set them aside until the deck needs replenishing. So, while yes, this create can very comfortably fit sleeved cards, it will have a little difficulty fitting double-sleeved cards. But it is not impossible; just takes a little compromise here and there. The crate fits both the roll-up vinyl map mat, and all of the original cardboard gameboards (including all of the expansions). Not sure why you'd need both, but you have that option. It also fits all of the instruction booklets for all of the expansions. It's been said by others, but I'll repeat it for the sake of everyone: This create will fit EVERYTHING for the original game and ALL of the expansion packs. Everything. The only thing that doesn't fit in this crate is the popular but after-market "Big Money" pack. But I'm working on a way to modify mine to fit that too.I also purchased a leather dice rolling tray (not Firefly affiliated). It's brown leather, hexagonal in shape and about a foot in diameter, and lays flat when not in use (it has button snaps, that hold the edges up about an inch when it is in use to try to stop errant dice from flying off the table when thrown). I have also been able to fit that into this case, although the lid does sit a little uneven because of it, but not enough to make me disinclude it.So, while I would have purchased this product much sooner had the price been lower (it seriously, should be like half the price), and I think they would have a lot more sales if they had a more reasonable price; I will say, once I spent the money I never regretted it. The case is very well thought out, designed, and crafted. They used good quality wood that looks beautiful with or without stain. If you're still not sure about buying it, or if you have but haven't put it together yet, I STRONGLY recommend you watch their videos on YouTube. They have two dedicated to this crate. One, is the sales pitch, showing off the crate and its features off. The other is about staining and assembling the crate. I think both videos are very helpful, and strongly recommend watching them. They will also recommend (and recommend against) which types/brands/styles of stains and lacquers to use. I went with their recommended brands, and chose Red Mahogany for the stain, and a satin finished lacquer (while, as a Firefly fan I am fond of "shiny", I don't think wood should be shiny). And I was very happy with the results.I hope that helps some folks with their decision making. If you have any questions, please feel free to respond to my review. I look once or twice a month and post replies to any questions asked.

Huge time saver
Fantastic organizer. I purchased this as a gift for my boyfriend, who loves the Firefly game but rarely gets to play it because of how painful the setup / board management can be.High quality material and etching. 99% of the pieces fit perfectly (one or two need a bit of wood glue, but nothing major). Once the box is put together it looks fantastic, and game-play is much smoother now.It took approximately 3 hours for the boyfriend to put this box together over dinner with friends. It would be nice if there was an option to purchase an assembled version for a fee, however assembly really wasn't that bad for him all in all.He did want me to make note that it would be nice if the parts were labelled a bit better, so there was less guess work as to which pieces fit together. I, on the other hand, vote that they stay labelled as is because it was quite funny to watch two grown men try to figure it out. :)All in all, excellent product. I absolutely 100% recommend this to anyone who has the Firefly game and plays it less than they'd like to as a result of board-setup pains. A bit pricey, but absolutely worth it.

Great organizer for Firefly the game, setup is a breeze now. I think it is worth the money.
This is a great ‘expansion pack’ for the game. It organizes all of the MANY card decks and miniatures so everything is close at hand. Setup is the worst part of the game for me, but not now!The outer crate is 1/2” and the inner parts are 1/4” thick, so I think it will be very sturdy. Boy is it heavy once loaded though. Construction is not too hard, just make sure to have wood glue & some 24” bar clamps on hand when you do it, mostly for the outside box assembly.Pros: great organizer for all of the game stuff, sturdy, not too expensive considering the cost of all of the stuff it holds, separate places for all of the card decks AND discard piles, miniatures, tokens, dice, etc.Cons: parts diagrams did not match the actual part sheets-some things were in different places on the sheets, the Crime & Punishment expansion tray instructions show separate part sheets which were not included as these parts are on other part sheets (build this tray LAST as it will be all of the parts left after the rest is built.) I emailed the company about this since I didn’t want to mess up the whole thing, they got right back to me, on a Saturday evening, to help.I do think this is a MUST HAVE if you have the whole game, even if you only have most of it, as the setup time savings alone will make gaming more enjoyable for everyone. The Broken Token has a great product, it makes me wish I had some of the other games that they make organizers for, just so I could have a cool box to keep them in.Now if only they’d sell it assembled to save my time........

Amazing engeneiring, a bit hard to assemble.
This box is fantastic in design and fits all together so snug and perfect that it brings a tear to the eye when all assembled. If you have this game with all the expansions as we did you know that taking out 5+ boxes and all the tokens, cards and ships can be a mess and put away even worse. This box takes all that hassle away. Beautiful in design with the "Three suns freight and transport" on the top a great touch. The 5 star should be 4.5 but only because the instructions could have been better and some off the pieces were a bit of a challenge. Despite our struggle I would still highly recommend.
