The rubber grip is really nice. These tools are high quality. Grip is embedded and doesn't look as though it will fall apart.

Sean, It is not a set in the sense that there is more than one knife. In that sense it is a single item. If set means a specific kind of tool, I don't know what "set" means. The blade is stiff. It is more rigid than most putty knives I've encountered. It is not quite as stiff as a standard scraper. I hope all that helps. B.

Hoping to a find a very stiff knife, no flex would be ideal does this knife meet that criteria?

This knife may not be what you're looking for but read on, that question has spurred many arguments here's why: it transitions. (Nearly) every knife available save this one has a flat steel blade & tang, of even thickness. Temper aside, thinner ones tend to be softer, thicker ones stiffer, naturally, but always of a consistent flex or "feel."  This knife however tapers from blade-base to blade-edge (and is the only one I've found that does).  As a result, the blade grows progressively softer from the Handle where it's thickest, to the extra-thin edge.  This plus with the edge being also the furthest point from the hand gives the knife-edge EXCEPTIONAL flex, BUT, ONLY just at the extreme where it's thin. It's extra stiff at the base and stiff-enough through the center where it allows me to feather out an extra-loose material with the edge, even when I'm being a little heavy-handed (as I tend to be), and using the same knife, work a stiff mix just as effectively. All other knives I've owned have either been one or the other, or somewhere in the middle and therefore good at neither-never excelling at both and that is why it is my favorite and most used.

Also stainless will (if allowed), typically still rust sooner or later. I can't get this damn thing to grow a spot of rust it has a super-high polish, and so it also comes clean in half the time, feels better in the hand than anything else too.

PRICING: I bought my first in-store at a contractor supply store, Priced at $11.xx so from the manufacturer it costs less than any others too, though I'd pay 30 without blinking if i need one, and can't make it to to a supplier for less.

When new, the blade should have a mirror finish. All the swirls and scratch marks on the one pictured above will (should) never be on a new knife and should be returned if that's how ones received, I won't pay twice the actual cost for something I have to restore on my own and hand-polish, the manufacturers website doesn't even charge past $16 for this size.
