The refurbished HP EliteBook 840 G5 I bought a year ago was plagued with poor battery performance. I was lucky to get two hours of use out of it. When the battery started swelling to where the case was coming apart, it was time for a replacement.I bought this one to replace it. The hardest part of installing the new battery was getting the case open. (Pro tip: Do a YouTube search for how to get take your laptop apart and buy a set of laptop repair tools to make it a tad easier.) Once I got the laptop apart, replacing the battery was a piece of cake.Once I installed the new battery and put the case back together, I plugged the laptop in, and it immediately started charging. The new battery came with about a 65% charge.Wow! What a difference a new battery makes! I estimate that I can now go about four hours on a charge. Much better that I ever got with the original battery. So far, I'm very pleased with the performance of this battery. I actually like my laptop again!

Its a battery. It works well. The hardest part about the installation was getting the bottom of the laptop off without breaking it in half. Once you finally get it separated, it was easy to replace the battery.

Increased battery life from ~2 to ~6 hours on old laptop. Great quality. Make sure you have the correct screwdriver for your computer, the included ones do not work for Zbook 14u G5, but the battery fits fine.

After changing the battery, I now get a message saying the battery needs calibrating. I've followed the instructions but still get the message.

The was a replacement for the battery in an HP Elitebook 840 G5 and went in with no issues. I have better tools, but the ones that came with it were fine (I only needed the philips) and I used them because they were at hand. The laptop sits in a dock most of the time and it wasn't until I removed it went to power it up i got the battery needed replacement warnings.Easy order and arrived in a couple of days, I didn't need the rush option.Took about 15 minutes total to replace the battery exercising some care.I didn't get any warnings on start about battery compatibility and it charged right up. Waiting for the requested 3 hrs of charge before running the calibration.So with the caveat I can't comment yet about battery life, it worked just fine for me.

I never expect these batteries to match OEM quality, but this battery underperformed out of the box with powercfg /report in Windows returning roughly a 40wh capacity after a week of usage. Additionally, under heavy workloads the battery struggles to maintain voltage and dies suddenly when stressed under 25% state of charge. Multiple times the battery completely cut out when video editing or running CAD. Lighter usage should work okay, but if you are a power user, you may want to opt for an OEM battery.Ultimately, that's what I did, and I wound out swapping back to a 3 year old OEM battery, as that performed better. Thankfully, the seller of this aftermarket battery did provide a full refund, so if you are dissatisfied and wind up with an underpeforming battery, the seller is easy to work with.
