OptronicsACP7S 7-way Round Trailer Harness Plug Protector

I bought a trailer and switched it over from a 4 pin connector to a 7 pin connector. I wanted 12V in the trailer for ancillaries. I also did not want the 7 pin connector subjected to the weather conditions when not in use. They can corrode. So I installed this connector protector. It's made of a fairly thick rubber and includes a hook catch to make sure the connector does not fall out. Since it is made of rubber, it will expand depending on the temperature. In hot weather, the connector is easily installed, but in cold weather, this might be a problem. It gets really tight, and you might have to fiddle with it to get the connector properly positioned. About the coldest I've had it was about 50 degrees F. Not sure how much more it will contract at lower temps.

Beware: This plug protector does not fit the standard 7-way female plug installed on an Oliver Elite II travel trailer. The opening of the plug protector is not quite big enough to allow the 7-way female plug from the trailer to fit inside it. I bought this before driving across the county to take delivery of the trailer in Tennessee. By the time I discovered that the 7-way plug won't fit inside this plug protector, the return window had expired. I incorrectly presumed that all 7-way plugs are standardized, and that this plug protector will fit all 7-way plugs. Not so.

I always hate letting my trailer connect cable hanging in the elements. I was camping recently and saw one of these on a camper. I searched it up on Amazon and ordered one. It's a bit of a tight fit when it's cold, but I expect that will change with time. Now I am not worried about the elements anymore.

This is exactly what I needed to keep the plug for my trailer out of the rain and dirt. The screws it comes with however, aren’t that great. In the area where you will be installing this, you will most likely be going into thick metal. I pre-drilled holes for them and they still snapped. I used some beefier self tappers and was able to make it work.

Added this to aluminum tongue using butyl tape behind and around using included screws. Product seems solid and well made. Mounted upright to ensure no moisture gets into 7-pin plug.
