Must have for DIY
I recently constructed my own 4500 sqft home and came across a fantastic device while watching a YouTube video about drywall. Up until that point, I had been attempting various techniques for taping based on the videos I watched. However, after discovering this particular tool, I couldn't resist giving it a try. Let me tell you, taping became an absolute nightmare no more! This device is incredibly simple to use and produces flawless results. Just make sure that the plaster you use is thin enough for optimal performance. On the downside, cleaning up after using the device can be quite a pain. It would have been great if the area where the plaster goes was slightly wider, as it would have made the cleaning process much easier and more convenient.

Gets the job done, but too many splices.
I was excited to give this a shot, before I had always mudded jointed then used a tape reel on my hip to tape drywall. I quickly realized this thing has a shortcoming, you can only mud whatever your wingspan is.Overall maybe if I used it every week I would get better, but I think I am going to have to give this away. It just makes it take as long to keep coming & going to the tape dispenser for 6' chunks. I end up always over or under estimating how much I need for the last 6' of tape on my joints too, so I'd either waste time and make a mess trying to tear 6" off the last piece or need to go back and get 6" more. I had a couple problem spots where I overlapped my tape and the tape stuck out more than I wanted. I tried to squeeze the mud out well when knifing but I think the two layers of tape trapped mud and made it stick out, causing for more mud time later.

Excellent mudding tool!
very impressed with how well this worked! Also got a banjo, and after trying each a bit and then trying tape applied dry onto pre-mudded seams, we went back to this and finished up 3 more bedrooms with it. By myself, I could do tape up to about 8' vertical or 6' horizontal. With two people we were pulling up to 10' of tape for ceilings and walls. 3 of us did a few 16' pulls for a 16' long wall. Found out to pull out tape too fast or you get voids in the mud on the tape, but you didn't have to go too slow either. When we wanted to pull faster, I had a helper agitate the mud in the trough as I pulled tape as fast as I could handle it. only blister we had was small from some we did without this tool or the banjo.

Buy this one if you are doing taping
In the past I have used everthing including the banjo type to put drywall tape on. This one is the perfect one for doing your own taping. Be sure to get the one with the joint compound paddle as it works great to get joint compound out of the bucket and to later clean out the tray when you are done. Highly recommend this product for do it youself work.
