Cool-to-touch handle, nice design.
( UPDATE: I dropped it on a tile floor, it dented and chipped the paint off, which is expected with enamel) I had just returned a Copco tea kettle because the plastic spout-whistle melted after 3 weeks. SO this was my replacement! Notice this tea kettle has the metal spout-whistle? LoL. Me too. So far, so good. The color is the empire red, darker than I thought it would be. The interior is black enamel. I wish it was white, so I could tell if it will rust in time, as all my tea kettles are replaced for that reason! The handle is comfortable after boiling to pick up and pour, the spout whistle is easy to open for pouring. I'm pleasantly surprised that I can handle it after boiling! This would be the first tea kettle that I didn't need an oven mitt to handle after boiling. Yay! The whistle is loud, starts out low pitch and builds up to a screech if you don't get it off the heat. We boil water for tea throughout the day, so this will have daily use. Everything works as expected or better. Seems well made. I hope it holds up, I really like it! If anything changes, I will update.

A lovely and fully functional tea kettle
I spent an embarrassing amount of time reading reviews and looking for a new tea kettle. I had my last one 15 years, and I wanted to get another kettle that I would have -- and love -- as long as my former kettle. This is it. I've been using this kettle a few weeks now, several times a day typically. I like the wide mouthed lid that allows you to fill the kettle easily and quickly. I like the handle, and it DOES NOT GET TOO HOT; you can pick it up without a potholder. It's got a great whistle -- loud enough to hear in any room in my two-bedroom apartment. I was concerned about the flip top because it is metal and I thought I might burn my hand flipping it open, but it does not get too hot to touch, and it stays open on its own. so you don't have to hold it. I bought the sun-kissed lime color and it is beautiful. I am very happy with this purchase.

Nice kettle
My old Sur La Table tea kettle rusted out so I needed a new one but didn't want to spend a lot of money (these suckers can get expensive!). I have some other KitchenAid products so I thought it might be nice to match up. I'm pretty happy with this kettle - it's the right size, the price was right, good quality, and the color matches well with my other appliances/cookware.A little strange, but it changes to a darker red, almost burgundy, when it heats up - the color goes back to normal when it cools down, but I thought it was weird at first. It doesn't affect the quality or anything, just thought I'd mention.Anyway, very happy with purchase - and I promise to take much better care of this one than my last kettle (RIP)!

Wow! It survived this, so much respect.
Wow! I loved the kettle when I got it,but now I have so much respect to manufacturers! I would give it six stars after what it survived! I left it on the stove (gas one) for 1.5 h (just stupidly forgot before going out of the house). When I came home it turned orange (I bought the green one). I was almost crying, my kid happily announced that I have to buy new one, because it looked awful. It had some burnt spots on the sides, I thought that was enamel burnt and will come off. It started cooling down and slowly turned green back! All those burnt spots were burnt splashes of oil which were invisible until they burned. I just used EasyOff oven cleaner and it is perfectly fine! The only thing got broken is whistle and mainly because I was touching it - the plastic on hinge softened and when I moved it it broke off. But if you just put it back on spout, it whistles when water boiling :). Well, if you ever find yourself in situation like this - do not touch the whistle, it will cool down and will be fine. So, I tried to kill the kettle, but it is alive, still pretty and functional :). So happy I got it!

Perfect teakettle… Dulton blue, not cobalt blue, but still goes together with other appliances… Works great!
I've been searching far and long for a cobalt KitchenAid brand teakettle for my kitchen to match my cobalt mixer and cobalt chopper. We make a lot of tea and many other uses and use all of our devices frequently. Alas after searching high and low for the cobalt KitchenAid kettle, all of the other colors are guaranteed to match correctly, However there seems to be no more cobalt made or available right now in teakettles. Boo. I bought this one in the Dulton blue. It's not an exact match to the cobalt but it's close enough so hey what are you going to do right? I love blue and even though it doesn't match perfectly it still goes together I've been using mine almost every day since I've received it. Works great on my flat top surface. It's perfectly flat on the bottom and curves upward seamlessly. I haven't used it enough to see any scratching that may occur in the future. As long as you pick it up instead of sliding it across you'll minimize chances of scratches on the bottom anyway. Who looks at the bottom anyway right? After it whistles first it's soft then by the time I get up to get it it's screaming at me. I love that whistling scream! Means it's TEATIME! Move to a potholder or heat resistant surface, flip the easy flip top but be careful, splatters might land on you I'm loving the height of the handle. I'm able to carry it and poured easily. Adding water to the center reservoir is easy with the easy removable lid. The packaging was great as expected. Received it in excellent condition.

and I think it's one of the best ones out there
I spent a long time researching this kettle, and I think it's one of the best ones out there, but it's not perfect. First, as other reviews have noted, there is a metal band (doesn't show in all pictures) that runs through the handle, and it gets HOT. And when the whistling cap is flipped back to pour, the steam does come back at your hand. So I would not want a child to handle this kettle right off the stove, even a big kid. That being said, if you let the kettle sit for a moment, like while getting a tea bag ready into a cup, the handle will still be hot but not so hot as to burn. The lid and whistle cover are metal, no cheap plastic parts. The color is really nice, and the enamel is easier to clean than our previous kettles. All in all, I'm happy with it.
