Q: How does this set compare to the Collins spring clamp kit?

Well, they don’t cost as much, they appear to be almost identical. If there’s a difference in the material I don’t know, I have a set of these, I’ve used them a fair amount and the only thing I did have happen is that the tie wraps break off after a while. Why they’re on there I don’t know, they seem to work fine without them. Handy item for mitered corners. Leaves a prick hole but easily filled when you finish the piece. I’d buy them again.

Q: Can these be used on 22.5 degree inside corners on crown molding?

If it’s just for glue ups and nailing then yes! Just clamp the back of the inside corners!

Q: Can this be used to hold a1/2” dowel cut at a 45 degree angle to make an L shape?

Yes, but I would add a 90 degree support piece in the inside of the angle. I assume you are gluing this together.

Q: What is the difference between the old version and the new version?

1. The new version includes carabiner for storage, while the old version does not. 2. There is no safety ring on the clamps of the old version, but we have added it to the old version of the recent stock.
