Yes it would leak to the flooring below. I have experience with water and my Villa rug so I know it does not stay on the surface.

Q: Will it slip on my hardwood floors?

Yes, it will slip but go to Home Depot and get the rug tape that eliminates slipping and apply to the back & you will be all set - no slipping.

Q: How does one clean this rug?

It is on my patio outside. I just sweep it. It is a beautiful rug and does not show the dirt. When it does need cleaning, I plan on using a bucket of warm soapy water sweep it all over rinse it off with a hose and let it dry in the sun
