The design is pretty unobtrusive, and the magnets work well. I used to keep a vertical soap holder in my shower, and while I liked it better than a horizontal soap holder that laid soap on top of it, it nevertheless would lose suction every once in a while, and more importantly, although the soap remained pretty dry and lasted longer, it left a soapy, goopy mess in the holder itself, as well as a soapy trail of buildup dripping from the holder and down the wall.
