WEN Metal Shear, Swivel Head, Variable Speed, 18-Gauge, 4-Amp (3650)

Bought this to fix a mistake (bought to long) with some ridged galvanized roofing sheet metal. I figured for the price of this. It was cheaper than returning the metal and wasting diesel fuel. I decided to test this thing out against some of the comments of negativity. I drew a straight line on the metal with a marker. It DOES cut straight!! However if YOU the operator can't push straight. You're not going to get a straight cut. It will cut over a single ridge. This is where the swivel head comes in handy. Just rotate it 45 degs so you can push down and forward while cutting the ridge. However it will not cut thru a double ridge. Which I kinda knew it wouldn't. So I carried a grinder w/ a cut off wheel. I had 10ft of over lapped at the double ridge sheet metal to cut. Took me about 5-10 minutes. Most of that was moving the ladder and switching out the shear for a grinder. These electric shears are well worth it vs some aviator shears. If you have some detailed cuts to make. Test it out on some scrap metal 1st. So you know how hard you have to push and how much tension to apply to the trigger.

Fantastic tool for my needs! I recently built two raised garden beds and needed an efficient way to cut wire fencing—this tool made the job incredibly easy. It saved me time and effort, and the results were clean and precise. Highly recommend!

This is an excellent tool. I bought it to cut steel roofing, which has ridges and is fairly thick. Needed something to follow my guideline as well as handle the ridges ok. After reading other reviews I decided to try it. Very nice results. This tool was significantly cheaper than the same version sold by Harbor Freight. And it shipped quickly and efficiently and was in my hands the next day. Since I live in small town west Florida, that’s unusual. I pulled it out of the box, read the brief directions and put it to work. 45 minutes and 8 nice straight cuts later, I came inside to cool off, drink some cold water and share my experience. I’m about to put metal siding on my shop. This will be perfect.

We were building wheelchair accessible, raised garden beds. The main team on the project were 'Women who Build', from Habitat for Humanity. They were wonderful builders but I was concerned about cutting the sheet metal panels in a crowded park with a rotating blade that threw tiny shards. I immediately order this and it came in the next day! Perfect. They were so happy with the results and the ease of using it that they asked where I got it. I explained that if they are looking for a heavy duty one they run about $200 dollars. This one fits my needs and it is only $43. One of the ladies said she makes lawn art and wanted one of them to make hair for her art. I told her where to get it but she ended up just buying mine and I just ordered another one. I saw in the reviews where a blade broke so I did some research. The blades are easy to get and the same blades are used on nearly all the brands out there, such as Milwaulkee, Eastwood, Klutch, Genesis etc. I am Extremely happy with all of the WEN products I have purchased, and this is no exception.

Awesome tool. Used this extensively for cutting FRP sheets during our enclosed trailer renovation. It cuts through them like butter with zero dust and minimal mess.

This thng will get you by for an occasional project. Five stars only because of the price, 43 bucks. It does cut, but it is tricky to get it going and takes just the right angle and a fair bit of pressure to keep it going. The edges will curl sometimes and sometimes not. A cheap solution but not for pro use. It was impossible to guide it with a clamped piece of plywood to cut a straight line. It would just stop, and I had to resort to guiding it by hand. Couldn't figure out why, It was just binding somehow. I had an air cutter from harbor freight, and it was similarly clunky, until it took its last breath. Maybe this is just a charactaristic of these cutters. Good luck.

I’m sure this works great, but is was just too heavy. Would need both hands to hold the tool making it difficult to guide material. Ended up using regular tin snips. Took a lot longer, but got it done.

Very impressed on the trial cuts . I am cutting 18 gauge steel with ease compared to grinding . I would say I can cut 8ft in under 1 minute no problem with this tool vs 2 zip discs , potential personal damage and about 10 minutes , yes , this steel is very hard Good buy for the buck for my purposes

Comme premier projet, j'ai découpé une tôle de piscine de 50 pi en quatre longueurs pour doubler un bac de jardinage. Le travail est précis et rapide, ne laissant pas de bord coupant ni de barbes dangereuses à manipuler. Il crée un ruban en spirale de 1/4 po qui devient une perte, mais à part cet inconvénient, il coupe tout ce que je peux couper avec de bonnes cisailles, mais tellement plus rapidement, en éliminant presque tout danger de se couper. La première impression est excellente.

It works smoothly and cuts through easily. The only issue with it is that the cutting head cannot be rotated quickly and without an Alan key.
