I'm happy and still happy
Updated 9/29/16: well I am still very pleased. The boots stretched out and fit perfectly now. They are holding up very well to life on a farm. I use and abuse them. I put Mink Oil on them to help protect them. The boots aren't big fans of water, they soak through rather easy when I am working in damp grass even with the Mink Oil. I just let them air dry for a day and I am back to wearing them the next day. I added pictures to help others see how they sit on your leg. It is a wide opening but I'm not bothered by it. I like being able to tuck my jeans into them, no matter what style I am wearing.Just got the boots. I ordered a 9.5 thinking they would be big since I typically wear a 9 and the reviews were all over the map. The 9.5 fits well though. They were stiff when I first put them on but lossened up a bit after wearing them for an hour or so. I bet in a few days they'll be completely broken in. I am very pleased with my purchase. Hopefully the last as long as others say they do.

love my new boots
I have owned many Ariat boots and once you get past the first couple of (rough) days of breaking them in they are a dream! Brand new I can only wear them a couple hours before my feet hurt but it wont be long before I can wear them comfortably during my 10 hour days at the barn. I ordered the size I normally wear and they fit great despite what other reviews have said. These are my first pair of taller boots and if you don't have tall enough socks they will rub a little mid calf but nothing painful. I like that the toe isn't as clunky and wide as the Fatbaby's, which I have owned a few times before. They are also cute enough to wear outside of the barn!

I love Ariat. They are so comfortable once you break ...
I love Ariat. They are so comfortable once you break them in. My heel is narrow so it is difficult to find any that fit right but so far this brand is my favorite. I walk/stand on concrete all day and my feet and legs don't hurt near as much as they used to. To help with the extra room I just put in another sole insert. I don't think you will be disappointed. The length is perfect just not in the heel. No fault of Ariat

Ariat- Need I say more- They make great boots
Great quality boot, true to size. I purchased for my wife's birthday and just went off her shoe size and they fit great. Solid, great stitching, light weight. My wife said they are very comfortable, first Ariat's she has owned. Color is true to what is seen online, I can't think of a reason to tell you not to purchase these boots. I also like the taller style boot, when you sit it doesn't look like your wearing boot slippers, they look like cowboy boots. Although if you have really large gastrocnemius muscles (claf), the shorter style boot would be a better choice for your leg.

I love the boot
I love the boot, and finally Ariat put taping over the seems on the sides inside so don't rub your ankles! However, I ordered this color and the same boot in a different color, same size each and oh my gosh . . . this one run so much larger in width . . . not length . . . just swallowed my foot! The pink one still ran a bit large, but room in boot was SO much different! So hard to get the right size in Ariat boots, but once find the right fit (not standard at all from their different styles!) I love their boots for the most part, but they tend to rub your ankles really badly without seams covered and/or really heavy sock.

Nice colour but wide, wide, wide shaft!
The shaft of this boot is very wide, I thought the other reviews were exaggerating but they are very very wide. They are also a bit loose on the foot and don't feel snug. I would have returned them, but I thought I would give them a go.They may be good for people with chunky calves and feet, but I wouldn't recommend them for average sized legs and feet. The colour and stitching is very nice though.

Mouth of boot way to large
I wanted an every day knock around boot with a low heel to wear with skirts, shorts, pants, etc., The opening of this boot is so large that I'd have to wear footie socks if I didn't want anyone seeing them. Not only that but when I walked the back of the boot kept knocking my calves. the opening is just way to big for this boot to be comfortable for me. Oh, and you'd also have to wear bell bottom jeans if you didn't want to showcase the bulge of the boot on your legs. they're going back!

My legs were eaten by the boots!!!
Beyond very large around calves. I bought these for my big footed skinny legged kid. Her legs look like they were swallowed by the boot. I normally can't wear boots because my calves or oddly big but even these fit them. I'd call them extra wide legged.
