JBL build quality, style and sound at a good price.
I'd recommend the JBL On Stage II for several reasons: the material and build quality along with the attention to detail; the unique, eye-catching saucer design along with a handy, sensitive remote switch; "tight" audio, with exceptionally crisp treble frequencies and adequately deep but not boomy bass. The cons: Even though the bass is fuller and less distorted than on its smaller sibling, it lacks the convenience of the JBL On Stage Micro, which operates on both batteries and AC (moreover, the power adapter on the Micro is smaller and lighter); the On Stage II has been on the market for a while (2006) and is not fully compatible with recent Apple equipment (e.g. video transport for a Nano 3G or iPhone synching). It plays and charges my Nano 3g and Classic 160 gig but only plays my Touch 2g. In a pinch, it will work fine without the included adapters. The JBL brand name (Harmon Int.), design and build quality may be worth a few extra dollars, but if audio quality is a primary consideration, the Athena iVoice sounds fuller, deeper, richer than the On Stage II. And if you don't require a remote control but would like the option of battery operation, the Cyber Acoustics iRhythms model for around 35 bucks operates on both batteries and AC and provides surprisingly full-frequencied, undistorted audio quality comparable to that of the On Stage II.

Good little speaker
This product has done exactly what I bought it for- allow me to plug in my iPod and listen to it from any room. I have a 2 bedroom apartment and I can hear it from the farthest corners (as long as TVs, etc aren't on as well). Like other reviewers have said, the bass leaves a little to be desired, but for such a small, convenient speaker at this price, it's not a big deal. The remote is great, it has worked well from the distances I need it (across a 15' or so room). And the speaker I ordered comes with adapters for every type of iPod, I have a 2nd generation nano and it fits nicely in the adapter dock provided. I even plugged my iPhone into it when I first got it and it worked fine. It is not battery operated, so you must have an outlet nearby to plug it into, but this also means it charges your iPod even while it plays, also a nice feature. It is a minor inconvenience to have to unplug and replug in the speaker if you want to move it to another room, but it's not like it's heavy or large at all, very portable. Excellent speaker for the price and size.

I Love This Little Gadget!!!!!
I ordered this item on 07/15/08 and I received it on 07/16/08. Remarkable. I tried it at home in my bedroom and I was pleasantly surprised. It packs quite a punch. The only thing is that the louder the punch, it starts to get muffled. But I bought this for my desk at work because I can't get radio reception. Therefore, for my needs, it's perfect. I didn't expect it to sound like bose or any thing but it does a good job for my needs. Would I have it in a large room or as my main music source, no. But it small spaces, it's great. And it does charge your ipod when the ipod is not in use. I noticed it today. After I stopped listening to the ipod or even paused it for a little while, it automatically went into charge mode and it's visible on the ipod's screen. It says charging or charged.

Nice, especially for the prce.
Mine arrived today and sounds very clear, no crackling noises as others have mentioned on various reviews. I'm particular about my sounds, this is clean and crisp. This for travel, and it will work very well for what I wanted it for. For home use, I'd probably get a Bose though. But for $68 it is nice. I've tried one or two out and never really liked the size, this one is about right. The instructions are concise, cables and remote are very handy. A protective cover/case would have been great. The remote is basic, no options for scrolling through the menus. The instructions says the Classic has to connected via the 3.5mm jack, this is not true, mine is running very well in the dock.Currently I have tried a few different styles of music, and so far, so good.

Small Yet Powerful
I just received this and I love it already. My husband and I own 6 different iPods between the 2 of us. I wanted something small, yet with good sound, but didn't want to spend lots of money since I will primarily use it when I'm in the kitchen or on the deck. This system works. There are plenty of adaptors that are marked to accommodate all iPods. You can even plug the Shuffle in. It just won't charge. I noticed for the best sound that the volume on the iPods itself has to be at least 1/3 of the max and then you can crank the volume on the speakers. My husband has JBL speakers for his main computer and we love them so I was drawn to the JBL iPod dock. Great price through Amazon as well. Compare prices of all the colors. I went with the black because it was a little less.

Excellent Ipod docking station and speakers
I bought this unit in Dec. 08. I like the sound quality and easy of use greatly. The built seems to be very solid and I have no issues with the unit at all.Good: price - I paid $47 for it. I felt that it was a great bargain sound quality - clear in all the range, volume can be all way up without losing fidelity Ease of use - simple and responsive buttons for changing volume Look - clean and functional not bulky or square/old lookingLike to have: Control - Will be nice to have light on the button, can not see it in dark Color - Hope to have more color selection, black/silver is ok but not exciting at all Overall, it is great quality and good buy.

Fantastic, fantastic, fantastic!
This little docking station packs a whollop of sound into a little piece of equipment! What a great purchase - charges my iPod when I'm not listening, produces incredible (loud!) sound when I am, and I can carry it from room to room in my little apartment (not that I need to). I love this thing! If I have to critique anything about it, it would be that the remote control do more than turn your iPod on, off, increase/decrease volume, and fastforward/rewind to songs. But hey, I need the exercise so who cares that I have to manually change playlists?!?! Great purchase!!!
