No, they are NOT USCG APPROVED and would be obviously out of compliance, leading to potential citations and fines. If you were involved in a collision at night, the lack of USCG approved lighting could lead to you being found at-fault. The USCG approval process is not based on a simple visibility distance. Navigation sidelights must adhere to strict visibility cut-off angle specs (112.5 degrees), colorimetry specs, and luminous intensity specs. I have to  relocate the bow light on my 1979 Starcraft Islander.  Would this be a viable alternative to regular separate port and starboard lighting?

My pole style light was always in the way so I bought these and love them . I tapped into the existing wire so that if something happens you can still have a back up.
