AVIA Men's Avi-Walker Strap Walking Shoe

The differences between different shoe brands for the "same" size makes it difficult to order by mail. Normally I take a 12 medium in sports shoes. I ordered a walking shoe from another (not-Avia) company recently and it was too loose. This Avia shoe was great in all respects except that it was short in the toe. This was a surprise because I had settled on Avia after going through several other manufacturers over the years for my tennis shoes (actually cross-trainers) because they were the most comfortable by far for my feet. I guess even within the same brand, there can be manufacturing variations. In the future I will go back to a brick and mortar shoes store to try them on before purchase.

I am a paraplegic who uses a wheelchair, and I have poor dexterity in my left hand. One of my "special" needs is that of shoes: I prefer shoes that are easy to put on and take off. Since I have poor dexterity in my left hand I'm not good at tying laces, and I like to wear shoes that are "laced" using Velcro straps.These Avia shoes met with all of my expectations. They fit well, are easy to take on and take off, and they look good too. They also stay on when I want them to.I should post an important caveat in this review: Velcro may have the disadvantage of not being as secure as laces, and if you do some rough activity in these shoes, they may not stay on well. In addition, I know from some of the other shoes I've worn that Velcro sometimes loses its ability to hold, and over the years the Velcro straps easily come undone.In any case, these shoes are perfect for me, and I recommend them if you have preferences like mine.

I have worn Avia shoes for many years. I loved an older model (the A340MWS in 10-1/2 Medium) for a long time. I could not find anyone with that model anymore in my size. This seems to be the replacement model. The shoe is stiff, being new, and is feeling just a bit tight. I suspect it will relax a bit over time. The quality seems to be as expected. The last of the older model had the Velcro closures fail which made the shoes worthless. The new straps appear to be much stronger. The new sole is listed as "Skid Resistant" - a good thing, as the old ones were really slick on wet smooth floors. Good work, Avia. You have a winner here. The sole is perfect, and the white color suits me fine!

I purchased a pair of Avia men's walking shoes; ordered the same size as I have worn for many years. (Note: that same size by several other manufacturers were actually a bit large, but wearable)The good news: The Avia shoes appear to be well-made and attractive.The bad news: The Avia shoes were much too small - remember, same size I have worn for yearsThe good news: I returned them to Amazon for a full refund without any hassle.More good news: I ordered the same model of Avia Shoes one half size larger; they fit well and are VERY comfortable, look nice. but still a little bit smaller than my old shoes of one half size smaller.

These shoes fit perfectly and were extremely comfortable but due to their synthetic material, I found them a bit warm on a recent walking tour of Rome. Nonetheless, after a three-mile walking tour, I was thoroughly satisfied with their fit and overall comfort. I wore them all day, every day during a three day walking visit to Rome but each night I found my socks quite damp from sweat when I took them off in the evening. That being said, I think they did the job very well and having now used them ontinuously for three weeks, I would definitely buy them again.

The Avia A340M is a very good shoe, the standard sole version is sized correctly. If you want the black/yellow sole (oil/slip resistant)- order 1/2 size larger than your normal size. They're very tight!!! As I stated, the standard sole version fits correctly. The shoe is very good and I like them but after and hour or two my feet hurt. It wiull take some time for them to stretch out a bit. Unfortunately, in this case, I'm size 13 and I don't see a 13 1/2 size available. Be advised!

Needed to order a half size larger than what I usually wear, i.e., 10.5 wide (EE).

I usually wear a 10, but ordered the 10.5 after reading some of the reviews. It was a good decision. They were a little tight at first, but once I got to walking around in them they stretched to just the right size. I'm happy with them, so far. You may want to use the same procedure when ordering your pair. They are really nice and comfortable. I hope to get a lot of good use out of them.
