99% unkillable
While driving a very large forklift on packed gravel, my bv6600 pro fell out of my pocket and landed screen down. I realized this after i backed over it. It was not damaged-at all! However, much later, i started walking with the phone charging and broke the contact in the port. The FLIR picks up footprints on carpet after 3 minutes. Awesome phone!

Poor quality, FM radio does not work. Bad software installed from factory.
DO NOT BUY! Poor quality, FM radio does not work. Does not have an 1/8" ear phone jack, which is needed for the FM radio to use a wired headset or head phone for the FM radio antenna. Only has a USB-C multi-purpose jack. Factory tech support said that any USB-C to 1/8" head phone jack adapter or a USB-C wired headphone would allow the installed FM radio to work. I tried 11 different ones, none of them worked. I asked tech support, they said it works with a certain type. I asked them to provide the manufacturer and models that worked, never got a response from them. I sent at least 3 requests for information.Bad software installed from factory. I found some odd software installed on it when I first tried to use it fresh out of the box. Slowed the phone down a lot. I did a factory reset and that cleared off the unknown software and brought the speed back up. I wondered what kind of SPY software was on it???WORD OF CAUTION!!! When getting a new phone, ALWAYS do a Factory Reset before setting it up and before copying your data to it. If you buy it at a store, have the sales person show you as they do it.It is very heavy (1-lb) and thick (about 1/2"). Common for very rugged phones, which this is.I have been using it for about a year, I would have bought a different phone to replace this one, but I cannot afford it right now. I will be replacing it as soon as I can.The battery is losing much of its capacity already and I am frequently charging it every day or every other day now. When new I could go about a week before charging it. I do not use power hungry applications such as streaming or blue tooth. I only turn on cellular data as needed. I have gone through the applications and limited which ones can use cellular data. One of the big selling features is the Thermal Imaging feature for pictures and video. I would describe the quality as low-end thermal camera, very low resolution. It combines the thermal image from the separate thermal imaging camera, lens, module with one of the other standard vision cameras. It does this so that you can see a faint outlined image of what you are looking at so you can identify what you are looking at. But, the two images do not line up well because they are using two different cameras. I have not found any way to adjust the very faint standard image to increase the standard image intensity mix. Also because it combines the two different images, they are not very well aligned with each other and I have not found any way to adjust/align them. I have used one other thermal camera several years back, and it was a very, very expensive professional camera. Of course it's image was vastly better then this BV camera phone. This BV6600-Pro phone is fun to play with the thermal camera, but I would not recommend it for any serious professional work. Also I do not recommend ANY Black View (BV) phone or product because of their inaccurate and poor advice. Also there should not have been ANY software added to the phone after the factory load or at least the factory should have reset to factory image if they installed any software for testing before packing for shipping.ALWAYS DO A FACTORY RESET WHEN GETTING A NEW PHONE, FIRST THING OUT OF THE BOX, BEFORE SETTING IT UP!!! You don't know what kind of SPY software could have been installed.

Almost perfect but can't continue using
Update. The company contacted me and offered to remedy my situation so i added another star for customer service. This phone is practically perfect for my needs. It has a super long battery life and the features are easy to use.The FLIR app is fascinating and fun to play with. There are other useful "tools" such as a protractor, compass, decibel sound meter and gradienter that I like to play with also. This phone is heavy and rugged just as described. I call it "Chunk" because its so bulky but that doesn't bother me at all. Just wanted to let others know, this is not a dainty girly phone.I've dropped it with zero issues. I believe it can handle way more than what I can do to damage it, which says a lot.Unfortunately, I need to move to a different phone for a couple of reasons, and I'm seriously bummed about it.First, the phone does not stay connected to any Bluetooth device. Headphones will play for a random amount of time and just stop. I stream all day everyday and have tried different speakers along with headphones and it does the same thing with every one. This is the biggest issue I have with the phone and why I will not be able to use it anymore. I can't stop what I'm doing all day to walk back to the phone and start the program again to play in my headphones.Second, the phone is set up in a way that my carrier, xfinity, does not support the phone. I had to get hooked in with ATT paying almost $70 a month while the other 2 phones on Xfinity are less than $100 monthly together. If I go back onto the Xfinity plan, ill only be paying $20/month more... This is also a problem because I live in a terrible signal area. Xfinity service worked so much better than the ATT does. If the phone worked with bluetooth, I would pay the extra money but I can't justify the cost when it doesn't properly stream to my devices.I hope this helps.

A great deal on a FLIR IR camera with a garbage phone attached
If you just want this phone for the IR camera, there's no denying that it's a pretty solid deal, but if you wanted it to also be a phone unfortunately some terrible software really sours the experience. From what I've been able to find, there seems to be a battery optimizer on this phone that seemingly cannot be turned off (even when you turn it off in the settings). This optimizer is AGGRESSIVE. Apps will be closed minutes after they are minimized if you have the audacity to turn your screen off for a second. This really seems to hurt background tasks for example bluetooth connections frequently drop for no apparent reason, and occasionally apps will close while you are currently listening to the audio they output. Others have reported issues with messaging apps requiring constant background connections to get messages.Just using the touch screen can also be a bit of a chore. For some reason the inertia of a swipe seems to ramp up as you lift your finger off the screen. So you will often swipe right to where you want and then lift your finger only to find the screen is launched away from where your stationary finger was lifted. I would be amazed if anyone who worked on this phone actually used it without trying to fix this (at least in Android 11). The fingerprint reader is so bad that it might as well not exist. It recognizes my fingerprint about once out of every 100 times I try it.If they actually fixed these ridiculous software issues I would likely up my rating to 4/5, because other than being surprisingly thick and heavy, I've gotten a bit more used to the size, and the IR camera is quite nice.
